"Perry's French Revolutionary and Vendee miniatures" Topic

I've been inspired by the recent title The Illustrated Campaigns of the French Revolution 1789-1801 by Dr Stephen Summerfield into looking at miniatures suitable for the earlier French versus Spanish campaigns. So I ordered a set of French Revolutionary commanders, In this case REVF47 Generals of Division Desaix, Dumas & Kleber. Unfortunately, I'm annoyed to say that, despite some excess bits of flashing needing to be cut off or filed down, they are beautiful. I'm annoyed because they make me want to buy more. (and there are limited times I can get away with missing paying the rent and bills in order to obtain more) I've also grown an interest in the War in the Vendee and guess what 'mean' Perry's sent me. Images of Vendee Commanders and Cavalry. so that's me evicted! Great miniatures though and I'm looking forward to painting them up, something I haven't felt for some time now. Just hope I can hold off the Rent and bill demands!

The Perrys are doing plastic French Revolution infantry so hopefully that might mitigate some of your costs.

bong67 – Sadly, I'm not a fan of plastic and much prefer the metal miniatures. And, as much as I'd like to, I won't be buying loads as quickly as possible, as I used to do with my 6mm collection, which I sold some time ago. Instead, I will be taking my time and just enjoy obtaining, reading, researching and painting up a few at a time.

If you think they are expensive, spend some time looking at Games Workshop figures

It's an itch you have just got to scratch. The figures are so good and still reasonably priced. At the last count I have about 8000 of their figures painted and based and a further 500 odd on the lead mountain of shame.

Thankfully, I've learnt to control my 'itches'. There is no rush and I want to enjoy the painting, researching and basing up. I guess my mindset, since selling my 6mm collection, has changed from wanting to obtain as many as possible as quickly as possible and painting and basing them up as quickly as possible in order to play a game as quickly as possible. Playing games is not my aim anymore, it is enjoying the collecting, painting, researching etc, especially with miniatures and areas I've pretty much neglected over the years. Saying that, if I won the lottery, Perry's profits would certainly benefit from it and the house I would buy would have to have a large wargaming room. LOL

Just looked at the cost of Games Workshop figures – wow – so glad, as much as I love Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones etc, that I'm not, for now, into that area of miniatures!
