Operation Squad Evolution is perfect. I love it. |

Spectre Operations 2nd edition works for this. It's modern combat but they have weapons that go back to pre-WWII. Lots of equipment choices. It's supposed to be a gritty small unit skirmish game. |

I do not game at that scale for WWII, but I have made a few notes for myself in case that ever changes. So these are not recommendations from actual play, just knowledge these rules are out there. 1-48 Tactics – specifically designed for really low minis count on the table. Not even a full squad. Rules and cards and markers may be free to download. Worth a look. Disposable Heroes – really meant for a platoon per side, but could be fine with just 1 squad per side. Face Of Battle – each soldier has individual stats Final Combat – complex Ultra Simple Skirmish Rules – very simple (bland) I have played and can recommend: Nuts! – plays exceedingly well with a squad per side. But the rules are a bit funky, and take some getting used to. Figures act and other figures can react to that, making them stand apart from an easy IGO-UGO turn sequence. |
