I will admit that I struggled to accurately label this subject. I watched Band of Brothers on HBO and loved the series. So when I began The Pacific, I was expecting Band of Brothers 2.0. NOT what I got, and I actually did not finish the series. A few years went by and I gave it a second view. Not only got through it the second time, but it has become one of my favorite series of all time. I read both books (Helmet for My Pillow, and With the Old Breed) that the series is based on and appreciated the series even more. The 13th Warrior is another prime example. I did not care for it much at all in the theater (the Viking wearing a gladiator helmet was hard to take for me), but over time it has become one of my favorite movies. I have watched it dozens of times now. So do you have one of these in your catalog of experiences?

Game of Thrones.
I'll say no more.

House of the Dragon starts back up in a few days. The first season was excellent. The second …"Miserable people staring at maps and doing terrible things."
I'm dreading the third season, which I feel compelled to watch.

Since it's part of the same universe, I'm surprised that I enjoyed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms so much. I can't wait for the second season. Please do not disappoint me.

When I saw Flash Gordon as a "sophisticated" teenage sci-fi fan, I didn't like the camp stuff. But for some reason I saw it again (probably because of the musical soundtrack, which I loved), and embraced the cheeseball delight of the whole thing. It's one of my favorite movies now.

Same for the ‘66-‘68 Batman. As a young boy I loved it. Then, as a teenager I looked down on it, wanting a "serious" Batman. After I got that, I realized that Adam West was just a lot more entertaining. Now I love the absurdity and camp of it all. (My favorite episode is probably the one where the Penguin runs for mayor, and Batman becomes his campaign opponent to save Gotham. The political jokes are all there, including satirical references to Goldwater, Nixon, and LBJ, and media coverage of political conventions. Hilarious to me as an adult, but completely over-my-head as a child and teenager.) There has never been a better Catwoman than Julie Newmar (though Eartha Kitt was purrfect, too).

Sometimes things have to simmer a bit; sometimes we have to age in order to be young again.

Dexter. The first few seasons were fine. Then it lost its way and I never watched the last few seasons.
But then a standalone all new season came along. I watched it and liked it.

I would say that Ray Donovan is almost exactly similar.

When shows know when to hang it up and quit, they're great.
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul never had the problem of just hanging around. Just because. But maybe the last season or two of BB….🤷

About existing episodes, rarely in my adult life. I've watched shows go into terminal decline, but that's different. Season Three of classic Trek was mostly pretty bad, but that doesn't detract from Seasons One and Two. And I like to think that X-Files really ended when Mulder was abducted by aliens at the end of Season Seven.

I feel the opposite. Loved MASH when I was young, can't stand it now.
