Which fully explains why I can't be bothered to attend. |

Which fully explains why I can't be bothered to attend. The duality of membership. People whining about the Host and the Ike saying its too shoddy. HMGS moves to a nicer venue and the cost goes up, so another set of people are unhappy. It really is true you can't please everyone. |

Actually, if you've seen the host lately, it's beautiful… |

Compared to the cost of flying cross country, renting a car, paying for a hotel, eating at restaurants for 4.5 days the $85 USD badge fee is in the noise. |

Actually, if you've seen the host lately, it's beautiful… And they don't want us during the summer. |

There is always the possibility of running a game or volunteering to get a free badge. |

Can you still purchase a Non-Member weekend badge at the door? I haven't been to a Historicon since they left Fredericksburg. |

Yes dBerzerk I am sure you can |

I went last year and the venue was great other than it could use better lighting. I am willing to pay more for a nice venue. Couldn't afford the travel this year, so not going. |

I used to attended Historicon and cold Wars religiously since the 80s. I haven't been to the summer show since they moved it. First bouncing around from venue to venue like a bunch of nomads then settling at the convention center. I hated the idea of moving the show. Last summer I went to the show for the first time, to say i was underwhelmed is an understatement. Probpbly less than a third of the venders that used to attend and there didn't seem to be as many people at the show as before. trying to find parking was a nightmare. there is no reason to pay for a large venue and pass the cost on to attendees that i can see. I have to work this year and won't be disappointed. |

+1 to Rustycop's comments. For the record, 60+ vendors and 980+ events at Historicon 2026 last time I checked. Another great convention for those who attended. Speaking of great conventions, hope to see everyone at Fall In. |
