Well, there are of course I and II.
But I have read about the Seven Years War being called the "real First World War." It did take place in Havana, India, Mexico, Canada, the … Philippines?

For the sake of a definition, which most people will ignore anyway, let's define a World War as one that takes simultaneously on several continents. That gives us "World". 😄

I'll add the American Revolution. Throw in India, Gibraltar…

War of the Impudent Corsican Scoundrel also had the War of 1812 and India.

If anyone mentions Confederate navy going after Union whaling ships in the North Pacific, I'll just say that's a bit of a reach.

Don't ask AI. 🙄

Have fun, and tip the waitresses.

For me, the Seven Years' War is the first conflict that really deserves the label. When fighting is taking place simultaneously in Canada, Germany, India and the Caribbean, and all of it is part of the same war, 'world war' doesn't seem much of an exaggeration.

NB I rarely tip. When casual wait staff get $32 USD an hour, a tip is only necessary for outstanding service.

I call the conflict between the Comanche and Spanish part of the SYW too. There was a fierce battle in 1757, so…

War of Austrian Succession had campaigns in the Americas and India, so perhaps it counts?
