Got a lovely Sumerian army in 6mm with pavise bearing & cloak wearing spears holding a long thrusting spear so that it does not protrude mush from the bodies of the figures. Unfortunatelly, the unarmoured militia-types have pikes, 3 times the size of the figure but still molded on to the bodies. Not wanting to attempt to carve them off & not knowing what to replace them with, I did what I usually do – applied superglue to the areas protruding, in the hope of strengthening the join & the whole thing, really. However, even before they had their first game, just my merely storing them with my other figures, they all bent – some so crazily that the base of 12 figures looked like it was being attacked by a multi-tentscles sea monster. Took be ages to straighten & I am aware that repeated bending will cause at least a few of them to break off.

I guess what I'm asking is, is there a better way to strengthen such figures, is there an easier way to convert them & what should I use to peplace the removed weapons?

Grateful for any suggestions

Jae

OK, piano wire for replacement, using a pin drill with a fine bit to drill a hole in 6mm hands. (It can be done. I had to do it once.) The alternative is scoring the hand with a jeweler's saw and supergluing the pike at the hand and foot. DO NOT use "gap-filling" superglue.

But unless you mean to replace them all, I'd look at fixing your storage system. Properly stored spears and pikes do not bend spontaneously. Either something's pressing down on them or they're rattling or even turning upside down in transport.
