I was recently looking for something in my closet and came across a bag of about a dozen SCW miniatures. They are nice sculpts (and indeed look like the Paul Hicks sculpts sold by Empress but are not in any of the packs I have seen from Empress. I picked them up at a show but can't remember from whom…

I would appreciate any help on figuring out whom made and might still sell these figures.

Here are a sample of figures from the pack

I remember them. Years ago a manufacturer came out with specifically Spanish Civil War miniatures sculpted by Paul Hicks. The manufacturer (whose name I forgot) had a stand in Antwerp, CRISIS, where I bought some figures including a priest standing firing a rifle. Later this manufacturer decided to sell the rights to Empress. Happens regularly, like Mike Snook did with the Iron Duke range. So I'm afraid the former manufacturer does not produces anymore. I suggest you either look here om TMP on the World War One board (there is no interwar board) or as Empress.

Porthos,

Thanks for the information. They certainly look like Paul Hicks sculpts and fit perfectly with the Empress figures. I am not sure when I bought them, but certainly pre-Covid. They ended up in a sock drawer somehow and I only recently found them. I may have picked them at a show here in the US so they were definitely making the rounds.

I scoured the Empress packs and none of the poses I have are in the packs. Nor did I see a priest firing a rifle.

I would certainly pick up more of them!

BTW, this message is crossposted to the Interwar board here on TMP.

Thanks for the help.

Noble Knight Games is another good place to look for OOP minis. It's surprising how many obscure lots they have.

Not sure, but looks like they might be the SCW miniatures sold by Templar Wargames, which they are still selling per their website. And I think these are the much older Force of Arms miniatures from many years ago.

John,

Thanks. I looked at Noble Knight and they did have a few pack of the old Anglian/Force of Arms miniatures. I will check back periodically.

Texaswalker,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have some of those old FoA/Anglian/Burns miniatures and they look at bit rougher than these and have different bases -- these are very similar to the Empress smooth ovals (my poor photography doesn't do them justice). I would actually still pick up some for variety's sake but many codes are out of stock and some are no longer on the Templar site (I should have ordered them when they first acquired the figures) so that is a bit of a problem.

The only figure of a priest firing a rifle that I have seen was a special produced for Crisis I think? I've only ever seen 2 of them.

Volleyfire,

Thanks for letting me know about that figure. I am still very curious as to who might have made these figures I have. I particularly like the figure with the LMG (a Fusil Ametrallador Oviedo Coruņa?).

As I mentioned, they fit well with the Empress and I will happily mix these figures I have in with the Empress models.
