YouTube link YouTube link "Armenia will leave a Russia-led security bloc, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed on Wednesday (12 June) for the first time, accusing members of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation of having planned a war against his country with Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan, who has tried to cultivate closer ties with the United States and European Union, said in March that Armenia, traditionally a close Russian ally, would leave the CSTO unless the security bloc detailed its commitment to uphold his country's security in a satisfactory way. Pashinyan's comments to parliamentarians – reported by the Armenpress news agency – suggest he feels he has not received such a commitment and is resolved to quit the CSTO…" link Armenia and OTAN

I hope Armenians will be more clear-headed than their new leadership. The country is located in a region where it has traditional and implacable enemies – Turkey and its new-old vassal, Azerbaijan (it also borders Georgia and Iran – it's landlocked). And territorial disputes between them are ongoing. And has no one forgotten the Armenian Genocide by the Turks in the early 20th century? Will NATO come to Armenia's aid in the event of a new, quite possible, war? Will there be multiple military conflicts within NATO – now it's just Turkey versus Greece, now there will be Turkey versus Armenia. How will Armenia survive when Russia stops supplying them with cheap energy and buying their agricultural products? I fear Armenia will simply be used as a bargaining chip in the conflict between the West and Russia, and the fate of the Armenian people will be unenviable. |

Armenia, due to its geographical location, has historically been surrounded by countries hostile to its official religion. A victim of one of the most horrific massacres of modern times, it has somehow managed to survive. That's not the point here… the point is why, just as so many other European countries did under Soviet-Nazi hegemony, it chose to break away and embrace the free world. It's strange that no Russian seems to stop and question how so many countries followed the same path while none voluntarily chose the opposite route. Very bad winds are blowing against the Nazi Empire not only in Europe, but also in Asia and Africa. Armand

Tango, it's probably because they, like Russia, would like to be part of the "free world." But they, like Russia, will be deceived, exploited, and discarded, finally accused of not being "democratic" enough and too traditional.))) 90% of all Armenian products are consumed by the Russian market… Will Armenians have to eat "European values"?))) |
Tango01 | 06 Jun 2026 4:50 p.m. PST |
So… Russia has a hidden desire to belong to the free world… but if all those countries were so mistreated, exploited, and brought to the brink of cataclysm, why are they so firmly choosing to belong to the free world instead of returning to the Soviet paradise?… Could it be that they prioritize their freedom of all kinds, not just economic freedom?… If Armenia is so dependent on Russia… they must be more than fed up with putting up with them to make such a move. The same thing happened to all the European countries that suffered Russian occupation. Has no one in Russia ever considered this?… Something smells very fishy in Russia for entire countries to break away like this. Regarding the economic dependence… business is business… I don't think Russia is suddenly going to tell its own companies to stop trading with Armenia completely. Armand

Armenia: The Next Ukraine? "Could Armenia become the next flashpoint of tension between Russia and the West?
Moscow has made plain its unhappiness over Yerevan's pivot to diversify away from dependence on Russia by strengthening ties with the European Union and United States. This comes amid a flurry of high-level EU and U.S. visitors seeking to encourage Armenia's pro-Western course under Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan…" link Armand |

Tango – Russia often trades with its partners on very favorable terms. And I personally consider this a big mistake – what comes easy is little appreciated. Russia doesn't have a common border with Armenia. And a war with Armenia could only break out if there were a threat of NATO military bases there. |
