robert Piepenbrink, that, sadly, is always true in this hobby. :-(
I started out using a Milton Bradley board game's figures for the bulk of my early fantasy armies. I sold those off, to raise money for a charity. I ended up replacing all of those armies with new toys (and better sized figures, actually).
I've been buying up figures to build various armies, using different manufacturers, but I am always finding better figures, several times each year, than what I have in my current armies. Other figures that I sold off, that I really enjoyed, are now OOP and unobtainable.
The future is so bright, these young'un's will need to wear shades… They can get/make STL files, and scale these digital files to the precise size they want/need. Heck, even us old farts could chuck everything we have, and replace them with custom-sized 3D printed figures if we really wanted to (and we had the time and money to build out new armies using this new technology -- and less brittle resin, $$$$)!
You have to close your eyes, and pull the trigger. Then, of course, you have to live with your choices, and try to be happy with them. LOL!
I am happy with my choices, mostly. I miss a number of special figures I sold off. I could replace them (I think -- I haven't sourced them for several years, now, so not certain they're still made…), but I've decided they're not worth the money, nor the effort. Cheers!
