I bought some of the Army Painter paint pens and have been enjoying using them. They have their learning curve but most things do.

I tried them on white primed figures and black primed with a tan dry brush, both gave good results. It didn't seem like it was any faster painting the figures but the getting started and cleaning the brushes was quicker. Sometimes I would go by the table open a pen and apply it to one figure close the pen and move on.

I don't think I'll use them on all my figures but for some it's a good option. The color palate is limited and the colors are on the bright side.

After a glitch a couple months back, that ended up with me getting a double order (!), I am catching up.

Bought -0
Painted- 27 Chinese and a horse for their commander
Month- + 27 figures
I also sold off a dozen figures, shrinking the unpainted pile that much more.

For the year
Bought 102
Painted 91
Total -11

The local Michael's craft Store had some Micron paint pens, and I bought several for doing eyes. I tried the black pen for the hair on some of the Chinese, and it came out well, especially on narrow strips of hair (between cap and ear, sideburns, moustaches).
