I am building forces for Mogadishu 93. I would love some little birds and blackhawks to use as fly over assets. Problem is lack the skill to build the kits etc. Diecast is a good alternative but when 1:50 ish scale blackhawks go for $200 USD USD plus I cant afford that. 1:72 versions are much reasonable at 20-30 bucks. So my question is as air assets i though it might be ok for them to have a representative model in a smaller scale. Too different? FM |

For flying aircraft in a primarily ground game, I always prefer going smaller scale on them. I've used 1/72 diecast for in the air planes with 28mm figures and 1/56 ground vehicles and they look great. Ditto for 1:100 aircraft with 1/87 tanks. For on the ground aircraft in scenarios, I use 1/50 ones, since most 28mm figures are gigantically bulky (and raised on bases), they look fine next to the larger scale aircraft. |

I almost always go subscale for aircraft for figures over 6mm. It looks OK as they are 'far away'. I use 1/144 in the main, with 15mm figures. |
