Back in 1983, I created my own pantheon of AD&D gods for my home-brewed campaign world. I created a god of war, named Varg (Icelandic for "Wolf"). I gave his priests the ability to summon a Wolf (a normal animal at lower levels; a Warg at around 8th level -- a very big, more intelligent, and evil form of wolf; and, finally, a Winter Wolf (12+ levels, a giant white wolf, intelligent, breathes Cone of Cold blast which can kill). These wolves will fight to the death for their priests.

Imagine my surprise, a few weeks ago, when I discovered that WotC made a pre-painted figure of an armored woman riding a Winter Wolf, complete with plate barding! LOL! I bought one off e-Bay, and I made some modifications to it: her molded spear had warped into a useless C-shape, so I removed it; I attached a wire spear, vertically, attaching it to her right hand, her right foot, and the molded figure base (giving it sufficient strength that it will not easily break away). Since the spear is entirely too long, I painted the portion of it beneath her foot, black, to hide it at arm's length. I used ChatGPT to create a wolf's head pennant banner, which I attached to her Lance/spear. I applied a dark wash of Polyshades Urethane Stain Antique Walnut, a dry brush of white, and then a matte clear coat to protect and seal it.

Voilą: Front, Right Side, Left Side, and Rear. I now have a high-level priest army commander/hero for my RPG games, as well as my 2e BattleSystem games!

I am still laughing about the fact that WotC made a near-perfect figure for a Priest concept I came up with 43 years ago… Too much fun! Now, to put together a BS game where she can strut her stuff! Cheers!

Even your simple paint changes much improve the base model! And the banner is great.

Thanks, Gents. I am an unapologetic army painter. Simple is all I need on the tabletop.

The funniest thing about this figure, and every other figure I've used these wire spears on, is that they are genuinely dangerous! These wire spears are very strong, and very sharp… I've stuck myself with them too many times!

I really like the em4 Dwarven Spearmen so I bought a bunch more to convert into Dwarven Pikemen, replacing their short, plastic spears with these wire spears, cut to an appropriate length. I drilled out their hands, after I cut off the spears, inserting the wire spears. They look gorgeous on the table top, but players need to be wary of their pike tips… OUCH!

I used ChatGPT to create some banners for my Dwarven Pikemen, as well. I am not a huge fan of ChatGPT AI, but for army banners, it works superbly. Cheers!
