HMGS-Midwest May Newsletter
Greeting fellow gamers,
Well, I am woefully behind schedule in getting this newsletter out. I apologize, and I will be brief. In this issue we do a recap of Little Wars (By the numbers). In many aspects we had a record breaking year. But what the numbers alone do not reflect was the high level of engagement at the con. We had 24 games on Thursday and 16 games on Sunday, both convention firsts. Shopper's Badges were down but Weekend Badges were way up. Normal event tickets via Tabletop for the weekend used to run a little over 1,050. This year we had 1,650. For example each game averaged 6.3 players. What this tells us more people are coming, staying longer and playing more games. We are pleased and we hope your Little Wars experience was a good one too. There is also a great link to view the over 535 Little Wars pictures taken by our Wizard with a Lens, Tom George Davison. Also a shout out to Mark Razny, who tirelessly provided live updates on Facebook during the con itself.
Aircon ran last weekend, and once again Peter, did a fantastic job. Held in Kenosha at the Brat Stop, I did not know your could order Eggs, Hash Browns, and Brats for breakfast. (Of course I had to try it).
Coming up soon on D-Day weekend is the 2nd Annual Chicago Memoir Conference. Kevin Kuster and his crew do a great job. So if you are interested in the Command and Colors system, you need to come by. A bonus reason, is the venue, the newly opened museum: "The Chicagoland Veteran's Campus"
Also is the proposed schedule for Naval War/Wars in Woodstock, in July. We have a couple of slots open for GMs. Finally see the clubs section for new group joining us: The Strategic Gamers of Illinois and Indiana.
Keep up to date with the 2026 Calendar. There are plenty of save the dates. Also keep in mind some dates may change, so always check the most up to date newsletter. We are always open to publish your works on gaming, so don't be shy.
See you at the gaming table,
Kevin
