We have a lot of players signed up now for the "Bloody Big Battles!" Bash Day in Sheffield on Saturday 27 June (kindly sponsored by Pendraken who will be donating some figures and discount vouchers for participants). There's probably still room for half a dozen more players, so if you sign up now we will do our best to fit you in and give you an entertaining game. We have decided to offer the following participation games: - Napoleonic: Waterloo - Hungarian War of Independence 1848: Kapolna - First Schleswig-Holstein War: Isted (small game to run twice) - Crimean War: The Alma - Risorgimento 1859: Montebello (very quick reserve game) - American Civil War: Pea Ridge - Franco-Prussian War: Coulmiers (small game to run twice) For full details of the event as well as links to reports of previous Bash Days so you can see what to expect, visit the BBBBlog: link Looking forward to meeting lots of kindred spirits in Sheffield! |

Sounds like a lot of fun to be had! |

I'm sure it will be, thanks, Perris! Late change: our Napoleonic GMs have decided to do Borodino rather than Waterloo. |

Some of the battles listed seem pretty small for BBB. Pea Ridge for instance. I thought we were talking about Bloody BIG/ENORMOUS/HUGE, Battles rules set. |

It's a fair comment. But GMs are volunteers and if they want to run Pea Ridge or Isted, that's OK. Plus some of the smaller battles that are also smaller games are in there deliberately to give us some flexibility. If disappointed people tell us they wish we'd offered Gettysburg or Gravelotte, we'll take it on board for when it comes to planning Bash Day 2027. But I think we've got a varied and tasty menu that should satisfy all our players. |

Do you ever come here to the USA and run these types of games? I'd love to try them out. I have the rules, just don't have the armies at this time. My friends have 1859-1872 so maybe I can borrow their armies to run a game. |

I occasionally go to Historicon, Fall In, Cold Wars, but never yet as a GM. However, other people do run BBB games sometimes, eg at Little Wars in Chicago earlier this year there were five Franco-Prussian War games, and before that an epic Gravelotte at the last Nashcon. I guess you just need to keep an eye out for them and be lucky. Good luck. I suppose borrowing your friends' armies to run a game for them is a better idea! Can I recommend Montebello as a great first scenario to introduce the rules? It and some others are listed and linked to from this "How to Get Started with BBB" blog post: link I hope you get a chance to run a game and that your friends will enjoy it enough for you to play more. PS to correct my earlier correction: Waterloo is back on for Bash Day. |
