It is generally accepted that Kolinsky Sable brushes are the GOAT. A problem, for some I guess, is that hair is from animals. I was today years old when I learned that Vegan brushes are a thing. OK, some may call them synthetic or plastic BUT I bet "vegan" brushes can cost more. |

The ones I actually found shouting "Vegan!" also said "synthetic" and weren't priced much worse than I pay at the game shop. I was surprised too. |

My wife bought a vegan purse. I have seen many things described vegan in stores that usually mean some type of "plastic" material. I am not a vegan, so it means little to me. |

If the customer wants plastic the customer can have it. I was going to say that all my miniatures are vegan, but that's probably not true particularly for hard plastics. |

Oil is general the result of peat, not dinosaurs. Aside from the ground-up pandas, plastics are entirely vegan. |

Unless stearic acid has been used anywhere in the manufacture process. |

side from the ground-up pandas, plastics are entirely vegan. Plastics are derived from oil. Whether that's "vegan" or not, I have no idea. |

"Plastics are derived from oil. Whether that's "vegan" or not, I have no idea." Think of Veganism as a game of "animal, vegetable, mineral." As long as it contains no animals, you're ok. Mind you, I'm discussing the weird cult on Sol III/Terra. The inhabitants of Vega may have a very different cuisine. You'd have to take it up with the Federation or the Galactic Patrol. |

Mind you, I'm discussing the weird cult on Sol III/Terra I know you're being glib, but it's worth noting that most of the world's vegans practice it as part of their religious faith. Strictly speaking, Jainism is the only creed that proscribes animal products as a core tenet. However, many sects of Buddhism and Hinduism do as well, and it is adhered to by a plurality of Seventh Day Adventists. It is also practiced by a significant number of Sikhs. Also, "contains no animals" also means animal products. Besides milk this includes beeswax, some stearic acids, some food grade shellacs, etc. I did 30+ years in the hospitality industry and catering to vegan guests can be a challenge, but it should always be treated as respectfully as any other abstention based on faith or conscience, e.g., alcohol, pork, beef, shellfish, etc. |

Thank you enfant. I had not run into vegans as adherents of an actual religion. (More important around here to accomodate Amish and Jehovah's Witnesses, which I try to do.) Vegans in Middle America are largely of the "spiritual without being religious" variety, which I see no reason to take seriously. They'll just have different rules next week. |

I have a friend who has a vegan diet for health reasons. AFIK he is not otherwise vegan. As for paint brushes the best synthetics these days are as good, sometime better than natural hair brushes. Depending on your painting medium and technique. Synthetic hog bristle doesn't go soggy like the natural ones do. |

Oil being dinosaur blood was a popular thing in the 50s. It was so popular, I was worried. But I don't care anymore. 🤷 Even if I were vegan, which I am not, I don't eat my paint brushes, not the seat covers in my car. So it's a non issue. |
