I didn't know where else to post this. 🤷

So. If the masters are already sculpted , why is a Kickstarter needed at all?
TBH, I have never "subscribed" to one. When I order something, and PAY FOR IT, I want it in a week. Not in 6 months.

To see if there is enough in sales dollars to justify making the molds. Sometimes masters are not done, but they show computer renderings of what the figures will look like.

I agree with 79th on this. A master figure may represent "only" time and effort. A production mold means someone had to write a check. People would really like to be sure they can write that check and still pay rent and groceries.

I don't do a lot of kickstarters, but I've never regretted the ones I have signed up for.

I agree with you John. Never have done a kickstarter. Don't totally trust them and want what I pay for now not a year from now.

One very prominent manufacturer here advertised a few Kickstarters that I would have immediately purchased, HAD THE FIGURES BEEN AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE ADVERTISEMENT. But, since I had to wait 6 months, I just moved on. I lost interest.
Hey, if that's your master plan, and it works for you, 👍
But I don't think I'm alone in my feelings.

I've done several and think they are worthwhile. But I routinely buy stuff i will only paint next year.

Gauges level of interest to make sure they cross the minimum threshold to enter production. Covers the cost of the mould making.

If the masters are already made, that greatly increases the odds of them shipping on schedule. Personally, if the masters are done, I see that as a very favourable omen. I'm still waiting (patiently) for some figures that are years overdue because of personal health issues of the sculptor.

There is always some risk involved.

The benefit to you for taking the risk is a generally reduced cost. Also likely produces a higher surge of purchases, helping to keep the whole manufacturing ball rolling as they go on to the next project.

Just wait for them to be available at retail if that suits you better.

And I agree somewhat – some of the Reaper Bones 6 t ordered I had Lost a bit of interest when it eventually arrived.

But, even with that caveat – Reaper Bones 7 soon, please!!
