What do you think of the recent releases of UAP/UFO footage and claims?

Many IMO can't be explained.

Are they natural phenomena we can't explain yet?

Some are most likely mis-IDed?

Highly classified tech from a nation(s) on Earth.

Then some may very well be from another planet from a distant star system/galaxy, interdimensional, or ?

And yes, some are hoaxes … 🛸

Possible in a few cases. However, most of these UFOs/UAPs sightings remain … unexplained.

Yes … John … I and other are well aware of that. And since many believe these ETs, EBEs, etc. have such advanced technology. Coming from distant star systems, galaxies, 🌌wormholes/stargates/Einstein-Rosen Bridge, etc. Moving like nothing on Earth can do, to go from air to water and back again, stop and go "on a dime" then disappear etc., etc.

They probably giving us the "Jane Godel" treatment, dude. Plus all they have to do is watch our daily news feeds. They clearly see we are primitive and violent species. So, they would just try to keep their distance. E.g. "These Humies are some crazy muth'a …

Word is from some "in the know" … these various alien types and they say there are a number of them. Not just Little Grays, etc. They are looking to abduct younger, healthier, specimens…

So neither you nor I have anything to worry about.

By definition, they are … unidentified. So we lack information to form an opinion. You can't expect people to extrapolate from limited information. Then you run into an advanced case of the problem with eye witness reports. Video and pictures actually increase the psychological confidence when your brain fills in information you don't have.

Also, you left off flying kaiju turtles. They're Gamera.

That is why they are now called UAPs … i.e. " Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena " As some reports state some don't always just fly but come out of the sea too.

I saw both the recent released footage and many more photos, etc. for decades. Many can be explained with much more accuracy than ever before. Some others … Not so much …

The investigation is still ongoing plus in some cases …. very classified, AFAIK.

Why are the things shot down not "real" UAP/UFO?

They are real. They are unidentified. They are aerial/flying. If you can "shoot it down" (vice, say "disrupt it") it's an object is is presence is phenomenological.

If you shoot at something in the sky, it behooves you to have an idea at least of what it is NOT…

As in, not an airliner, private plane, friendly military craft, weather balloon, endangered bird… ‘cause otherwise you could be in a MAJOR screwup.

It's odd that some things that have been identified, are still being considered as unidentified.

If you shoot at something in the sky, it behooves you to have an idea at least of what it is NOT…

If it is a UFO/UAP we already know:
* no IFF
* no ADSB
* no NOTAM

And if you're going to engage it you have:
* speed
* course
* radar return size
* visual confirmation of what it is not (if not classification of what it is)

That last set is very different than a report by my cousins Joe Bob and Bobbi-Jo at 2am after sampling the local homemade. OK, that is dramatic overstatement. But visuals of aspect angle, distance, and relative motion by trained observers are difficult to get right. An untrained report of "the light was hovering" should be read as "the object was hovering, or making a wide turn, or coming toward me far away, or just too far away to see motion, or on an oblique slope relative to my position, or …".

So, you don't know. But you can still have high confidence about what it isn't.

I still say what my cousins saw at 2am was Gamera rushing to save a little kid hanging off a cliff. You don't know it wasn't …

There is a difference between something being identified and having serious evidence of what it is not (especially the violation of known laws of physics) and good evidence supporting a handful of mundane explanations.

No matter what … some of the footage shows UAPs doing high speed maneuvers, going from air to water to air again, moving at speeds that would kill a human, appear and disappear at will, etc.

Yes the laws of physics that we know about is different and is not the same physics the UAPs use.
