I appreciate that the Germans used Italian camo for a variety of clothing late in the war. I have seen images of many officers wearing M style tunics etc as well as a few enlisted soldiers wearing separate tunics/trousers in the said scheme. I'm unsure how prevalent the use of tunic and trousers was amongst low ranked infantry, I did read that the 1st and 12thss divisions used a lot of it. Basically I want to paint a bunch of units wearing tunics and trousers in Italian camo (shoulder boards removed), is this realistic?

As I recall there was a pretty broad issue of Italian camo to Luftwaffe and 12th SS but also to other units including Panzer units – apparently some as far afield as the Eastern Front – the link below has photos suggesting that the squadies were in fact issued a lot of Italian pattern tunics and trousers
