A skink priest leds these elite temple guardians into the jungles of Lustria

Wow. GW has really increased the sculpted details on their Skinks! I bought some older models, around 2000 (likely late 90's sculpts), and they had very little detail, compared to these: no earrings/hoops in their ears; no feathered cloaks!

LOL -- I prefer my old models… Less details to paint, faster, easier to finish for the tabletop.

These are very nicely done. Very pretty brush work. You should be quite proud. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

They look very impressive! Somehow, with their arm bands, bracelets, and earrings, they look Mayan. Fair enough, I suppose, since the Maya lived in the jungles of Central America.

Like Sgt Slag, I have a previous generation of skink archers with less detail. I painted mine like the local skinks, with green and brown stripes, since local skinks are not blue. Are there blue skinks in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, or Wales? Just curious where GW got that idea.

Arf a mo these heroes are mostly from 1998!

All three types of Lizzie infantry were original blue.

I also have many many skinks and only the 5th edition figures have short bows so they fill in nicely. The rest of my band are 6th edition and later figures.

I am querulous does anyone use blow darts in their warband?
It is way overpriced and is a small niche weapon.

The lizardman warband is strong but it could use some magic weapon or staff for the shaman.

Great pics by the way!

Thanks! I prefer to equip all skinks with a shortbow and swarm the enemy with a mass of bodies supported by sauruses with shield for that sweet 4+ save

That is how I run them!

I don't play WHFB, but I have bought a few sets of Out Of Date figures for use in my 2e BattleSystem games, along with using them in my AD&D RPG games.

I have Skinks with Short Bows and Blow Darts. Based on your post, they must be 5th Ed. WHFB figures? I use them as younger Lizard Men figures who attack at range. I use the larger WHFB Lizard Men as regular Lizard Men infantry -- gotta give those young-un's a chance to grow up to bring more Lizzies into the world…

I bought my WHFB figures around the early- to mid-2000's, if that makes a difference. They are great figures for D&D enthusiasts! Cheers!

They do work great for D&D! The only GW fantasy game worth playing now is Mordheimer. I do recommend it, GW no longer supports it but has a strong support base.

The game requires 20 or less figures (any manufacture) is played on a 3'x 3' or smaller area. Free rules, warband info, and campaign system which is great! I have four warbands now and they all play different. Some warbands do play better than others so I play ones I like the look and feel. Most are human based but all Warhammer races are there. For skirmish rules they are easy. Give it a try!

5th never had blow darts.

For some reason I think a character had one, maybe the chameleon chap? But not regular skinks.

And skinks ride coldones, of course, as Saurus are too slow to train animals.

Also they are LizardMEN, hense they have humanish bodies with five fingers and toes.

I wrote a Skink scouting party warband before any GW one. You had skinks, could have a terradon. Saurus henchmen and a kroxigor, the idea being they wandered in from near by battles. Skink captian, shaman.

I made a warband, but I'm not sure I played it. Even made a terradon.

I think the idea of them flying over to check out the city had some reality to it. Not sure what other lists do, probably have them walk?
