Due to mixed results in recent polls which seem to contradict each other, I ask this. In one poll, they were voted "least favorite", in a Least favorite poll. Yet in another poll "most favorite" poll, they were voted "most favorite". I should point out the "winners" came out in the 20% category. So, let's settle this! Straight LOVE or HATE with no waffling choices in the Poll. |

Love. Generals having complete control over their troops is not backed up by the records of historical battles. |

I have to play solo, so command control restrictions are necessary to make it enjoyable. |

Love. Need retrictions to allow for fog of war and mistakes. |

Hate. Mind you, I see the "love" argument. But far too often--looking at YOU, Napoleon's Battles--they're a way to turn the wargamer into an idiot or a spectator. I can make mistakes and forget units by myself, thank you, and "the troops forgot how to march because they were too far from their general" is downright silly. |

I often find them irritating but so is the real world. There needs to be some mechanism for simulating Clauswitz's "friction." So "need" rather than 'love." |

Whatever the results if my imaginary poll, I will hate them. Why? Because I have never seen a game that treated them realistically. I play GAMES. I despise "simulations". |

I hate to be "that guy", but I do love to muddy the waters. Some C3 rules I love, some I hate, all are dissatisfying in some way. TBH I think C3 rules have to be judged in the context of the goals of the game design. I really disliked the entire Piquet family of rules because I felt like the games played themselves too much and left me nothing interesting to do as a player; but that was the entire purpose of the Piquet rules system, and so in that respect it's C3 framework was pretty successful. The Piquet system had adherents who loved it to death, so I could argue all day about how "realistic" the approach was, but I couldn't win an argument about how satisfying it was. That was just a matter of personal opinion. |

+1 Yellow Admiral. So, if there's to be no waffling and just a "Good"/"Bad" decision then I abstain. |

+2 yellow Admiral. The one time I played Picquet was intensely unpleasant. |

Love is quite a strong word. Mostly favourably inclined, although some mechanics (written orders for example) blow chunks. I would say 7 or 8 on a scale of 10. |
