Double post seems to have been corrected. VE Day is probably worth it anyway. There must have been that real dampner for servicemen, within days, however. Japan still to defeat, reconquest of Malaya and Invasion of Japan and surely at least another year of intense fighting and deaths. Now we know about the US submarine blockade of all supplies, the destruction of all her cities, not to mention those Little Boy and Fat Man bombs |

The salvation of humanity from the triumph of racial superiority theory, from an ideology that declares people either "superhuman" or "subhuman" simply by virtue of their birth among certain peoples, from a theory that prescribes the physical extermination of entire peoples, from a state that created industrial enterprises for the extermination of people – this is a worthy celebration.
