"Bavarian artillery harness" Topic

Does anyone have illustrations of Bavarian artillery horses ? I need to know what their harness looked like.And while I am at it, anything on Saxon harness would also be very useful. Thanks in advance,

My profound Thanks to you , Ian ; I can now get on with making some more artillery figures, which have been missing from my catalog for too long. I have the Summerfield book, excellent plans and elevations of all the guns and vehicles, but nothing very clear about harness.
You have now filled the gap.

Great stuff again, the plate about the Bavrians may be post Napoleonic, but I will have a look at Müller Braun and see if I can find what period it would cover, please also note that at text left hand side – English horse collar.

For fun, Boney presented the Bavarians after 1805 two Austiran cavalry gun batteries so that they could re establish their light artillery, they would be replaced later.

Question, is there more about that "Gersdorf" print about the Saxon Army in ASK Brown and how to find them?

just to add, those Sauerweid as well as Geißler are wrongly dated in the ASK Brown collection they are from 1809.

I have a much larger version of that Bavarian plate and it does definietly say "bis 1811" which I think means "until 1811" though I cannot make out clearly the spelling of the previous word which does to me look like "Beschivung" which I believe means "Description".

I had not noticed the "English Horse Collar" reference…

Well according to Müller Braun the Bavarian changed in already 1822 from the German harness to the English one.

"Beschivung" is actually: "Beschirrung", and that means: Horse Furniture for draught horses.

Thanks to everyone for your contributions.
I have made the Saxon artillery and team, and am now just finishing a caisson for them. After that,completing the Bavarians, whose guns and limbers are already made, and who need a few more items.
