The USS Yorktown (CV-5) reentered Pearl Harbor on 6 February 1942. The sight of all the devastation caused by the Japs sickened those of us on board. We felt sad, uncomfortable, and mad all at the same time. We did not want to stay in that confined harbor. We wanted to return to the open sea, where we could run free, and defend ourselves from any other attacks…
