In latest stage of £42.00 GBPm restoration project, 30-strong team remove mast from Nelson's Battle of Trafalgar flagship

Not the original wooden masts, but 19th Century iron masts salvaged from HMS Shah.

I can't resist the temptation to say that this might be a way of avoiding the suggestion that HMS Victory should be deployed to the Strait of Hormuz…

I was also surprised when visiting Victory last year to see the masts were metal.

I think that may have been done in the interests of longevity and safety.
