Check this guy's pet Hyena's laugh: YouTube Video. Seriously, aside from its laughter, check out its TEETH! No wonder Gygax gave them 2d4 Damage in their bite, in 1e AD&D! YIKES!!!

I have no idea how he got a Hyena as a pet. I don't think I could ever trust such a "pet" in my house, my life, or my car! I do love its laughter, however. No wonder I have such an affection for 7-foot tall Gnolls…

You know, if I ran into a pack of Gnolls, I think I could get them all laughing -- I bet they would invite me to join them for supper.

"Great! What are we having?…"

"Guys, why is that funny?"

"Guys?"

"Why are you doubling over with laughter -- it wasn't THAT funny. Was it?…"

And so the story of, "Slag meets a pack of Gnolls", comes to a grisly end.

Remember: if the Gnolls don't find you useful, they will find you tasty… Cheers!

The Hyena's laughter makes me laugh every time it laughs. But those jaws and teeth make me nervous… The animal nature videos I've seen of Hyenas in the wild still haunt me. I watched one pack kill a Lioness who'd been blinded by a Spitting Cobra (she was dying a slow death when the Hyenas found her, blinded and obviously suffering from an infection where her eyes had been -- the Cobra encounter had been filmed by the same crew, earlier). Later in that show, the male Lion of the Lioness's pride, found the Hyenas (they said he was unaware of the dead Lioness when they filmed this segment), and he singled out and broke the back of the female pack leader Hyena with his jaws, then he walked away, leaving her paralyzed, to die a slow, agonizing death, dragging herself around with her front legs. It was pretty obvious Lions and Hyenas hate each other out of principal. I saw that show decades ago, and I will never forget it. It was harsh in the extreme!

Another YT video stated that Hyenas cannot be domesticated, they cannot be made into pets. Yet, I found other YT videos of other people, with pet Hyenas. Hmmm…

Not for me. That video that claimed they cannot be domesticated also stated that their jaws can sever bones with ease, and their digestive system can consume bones without issue, like a dog's, or a pig's stomach can.

I see Hyenas in a different way since I watched YT videos on pet Hyenas, but I still have zero desire to have one as a "pet." (Shudder!) YMMV. Cheers!

I was a tech for the phone company after getting out of the regular MC. One of the guys on our crew had a job at a house in Woodland Hills. He asked if there were any dogs (company policy) and was told " No, just a tiger". As he was walking down the hall…a tiger came out of one of the rooms. He flattened against the wall and the tiger walked past, pretty much ignoring him <lol> Life is weird ? <lol>
