As Keith Laumer wrote in a Retief novel "after the war, we'll write our memoirs. We'll leave out all the mistakes, and put in everything we wish we'd done." I'm sure the memoirs of American and British generals are much more truthful. (The memoirs of Soviet generals are, I understand, released in ring binders.) As for the memoirs of Napoleonic officers--well, where should we begin? |

Having been influenced by these things, Caesar pulled up his impediments, and made a march. When he made camp, he wrote his memoirs. Keith Laumer would know. He was an Air Force officer, and served in the diplomatic corps. |

Your winnings, OFM. But this is a miniatures site, military historians being a nearly-extinct species. The membership doesn't want to critique Manstein: it wants to BE Manstein. But it also wants to concern itself with the ammo load of individual tanks. If you want to draw a crowd, post something suggesting that Tigers and Panthers weren't the pinnacles of tank design. |
