I recently watched Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn. Watching her escape from the embassy building, slipping from shadow to shadow, avoiding patrolling guards, I realized she was using skills learned in the Resistance, not just acting. Gelber |

What was even more impressive was just how many great actors that came before, during and after WW2 had good, to sometimes awesome, service records. Bomber pilots, combat engineers, landing craft operator at D-Day, infantry on day one of Iwo Jima… Now start listing today's Hollywood actors with decent military records…that'll be a short list, and unimpressive to say the least. |

Having served in the military, though admirable, is not necessarily the best preparation for, or entry into, a peacetime acting career, especially if one's roles are not those of ex-service persons. |
