"Is the curse of newly painted figures/units real?" Topic

Do you believe in the curse of newly painted units doing poorly their first time in battle?
Lacking suitable figures for a Finnish WW2 soldier, I just converted one up from Germans. By my standards, it turned out pretty well.
Today was his first battle. On turn one, he missed his first shot and was immediately killed by return fire.

Fortunately, he got a reprieve from the governor, so to speak. The next turn I realized I forgot to check the range – and they were both out. So I am going to refight the battle tomorrow.
Kind of like striking out in your first preseason at bat I guess.
Does it still count as being killed in your first battle?

Humans like to see patterns where there are none.

I am always pleasantly surprised if a new unit survives a battle though.

Of course it's real, there can be no other explanation for them losing.

I've just finished a beastmen tribe. I'll see this weekend if it's true.

I don't believe in curses, I believe in curs. Every time I put a new unit on the table, they instantly become targets! Filthy curs!

Last week I finished a couple of elements of Tarantine light horse and fielded them in a game. They charged into a melee with what should have been a slight edge in a fairly even fight – and both elements were destroyed immediately. So yes, I do now believe!
