Do not get your hopes up yet. This is not the long awaited 4 hour version, that never actually existed. It is not the collection of original cut scenes, that only appear now as tantalising stills.

Even with the new scenes it is shorter than the 2 hour 13 minutes we are used to and the sound quality and voice restoration is awful. And yet, it cleverly tries to create new scenes for QB and Ligny. Much of it is just shifting sequences from 18th June to 16th or reusing close-ups as "new views".

We get many a clip from the same director's W&P (which work very well). There is a two second clip of British infantry from the Crimea (Tony Richardson's Ch of the LB). We get to see chaps with an axe at the gates of Hgmt, the Union Brigade do get into the French Infantry, Uxbridge's leg is actually blown clean off etc. There is a very comical AI shown twice as the British recapture LHS and march through the archway. Much for the re-enactors to do here, but they do it well

The daft thing was to cut so much of the original film but, at times, one gets a hint of what could have been. Like the curate's egg, it is good in parts
