In making terrain boards, I have had very mixed success with the various resin based 'artificial waters' that have been available. They remain sticky. They bubble long after you think they are set. They leak despite all attempts to seal the 'river bed. And so on. I am wondering if I can get the same effect by pouring a gloss varnish into the river bed? Has anyone tried this and if so, what varnish do they recommend? |

I followed GW's terrain making book and panted a river into a recess carved into blue foam board. I used Testors gloss varnish over the "water". I thought it looked really good. |

You can probably paint your water sections up and finish them off with a glossy Mod Podge, as well. |

If you use Yacht varnish you will get a cheap and very nice finish martin |

Minwax Polycrylic is good stuff and easy cleanup with water. |

If you're using Mod Podge, alternating areas of satin, gloss, and super gloss finish can give the water a more natural feel. inlgames.com/xmasjan.htm |
