I haven't ran into this situation before – on U.S. ebay, I sold some figures to a buyer in Australia, no problem. The category was 'in Toys & Hobbies > Games > Miniatures, War Games'. A week later he tried to bid on another of my items and got the message 'may not post to Australia'. The category was 'Toys & Hobbies > Games > Miniatures, War Games > Ral Partha'. I contacted ebay support (an agent, not the automated assistant) and was told it was because of the category, no other explanation. Why would including the company name restrict the Australian buyer from purchasing that item? Since there are already bidders on the item, I can't change the category – I can only cancel it and relist it, which I would prefer not to do (the current high bidder is a repeat buyer so I don't want to inconvenience him). Any ideas? |

How can you tell who's bidding? Also "may not" doesn't sound definite. Was he actually prevented from bidding? Or was it just a warning message that you may not offer international postage, as opposed to "does not"? Ral partha is American, isn't it? Perhaps as it's coming from where the stuff is made its thinking there's a chance it's not able to post to Australia. Also check the postage info for the item and make sure it's completely clear it can post to Australia. If it's at all vague it may be working with the title to produce the warning. I suspect it is just a warning and can be bought regardless, so ask the buyer to try to bid past the warning. You may also be able to bid yourself?? So could bid on his behalf?? |
