IF Iran closes it to SOME shipping,

Interesting idea?

As he says, doc, he's not an economist. He's a wealthy lawyer, not impacted by cost of gas and food as the war starts to hurt the global economy.

If I was a tanker captain I would sail though the straights on the western side of a tanker the Iranians let though.
Perhaps matching the transponder of the near by tanker.

Hey we still have about 5000 of the Iranian leadership's children and relatives here. They had no issues making human chains of their own people around infrastructure sites the day before the cease-fire started.

I'm sure they would have no issues with those tankers having 10 or so of their relatives on board each time they come through. Prominently tied on the main deck.

You have to think like they do. 🤔

Of course, if we do that… we're just like them…

Not really, just playing the game as they play it. A tactic they just might understand.

Maybe for once, they will realize an enemy can be as ruthless as they are and as they do to everyone else.

As I said, it is leadership family members. (Many of whom have been over here degrading our country and calling us the Great Satan).

Yes I admit it's nasty, but it's thinking outside the normal box.

Of course we would never do it…. But they would.

Same people doing this:

And…Gas goes up to $8.00 USD a gallon.

You must live in a strange area of Wisconsin.

"As of early April 2026, the average price for regular unleaded gas in Wisconsin is approximately $3.82 USD per gallon."

Of which

"For every gallon of gasoline you buy in Wisconsin, you pay a total of 51.3 cents in flat taxes. Unlike some states, Wisconsin does not apply its state or local sales tax to gasoline purchases."

Now in the people's republic of California:

"As of April 10, 2026, the average price for regular unleaded gas in California is approximately $5.93 USD per gallon."

Of which

"As of April 2026, taxes and regulatory fees on gasoline in California total approximately $1.30 USD to $1.50 USD per gallon, depending on local sales tax rates and environmental compliance costs."

But if you really want gas at $8 USD a gallon. Again look to the People's Republic of California. Seems to be the only area in the U.S.

"you can find prices at or exceeding $8.00 USD per gallon at specific high-cost stations in California, particularly in Los Angeles and remote areas."

Thank you Gavin. 😏

Right SB?

It went down here in OH …

Regardless, this is early in this "ceasefire" … I doubt it will make it a week let alone 2. Iran has to do two things:

1) Open the Strait
2) Give up their nuke material

We all know this most likely will not going to happen. And the US & IDF will continue the bombing of the islamists …

Eventually gas prices will go down … and the threat of islmasits will no longer be a concern. There certainly is a high probability of all this happening. But the war will continue … until then …

Up to $4.19 USD in NEPA. Can I afford to mow my lawn?????

In our defense, Pennsylvania has the 5th largest gas tax in the Nation, which we spend on not fixing our roads. It goes into the "I have all this money!" slush fund. Just like our "legalize pot but tax it" slush fund will go.
I thought we were #2, but the local radio talk show host "did his research" and educated me.

Taxation WITH representation!

Sounds like "a stupid idea whose time has come". 🙄

You would not be a tanker captain for long. Your company would immediately fire you, on the insistence of their insurance carrier.

Hey! I could take Mike Tyson! He would never expect the heel of my hand to his nose!

IN WW2 , crews (including captains) of tankers crossing the Atlantic were threatened with the worst possible fate: being torpedoed & cast into an ocean covered with flammable fuel. Whilst being burnt alive, the screams of the victims could be heard quite a way off, in ships that could not give any assistance.

I'm sure JMMcCarrol must not have thought his post through because the hesitation of tanker captains to enter the Strait of Hormuz is entirely rational. I do note that US Navy vessels also hesitate in entering & I entirely sympathise with them. It must be little fun to be a duck in a shooting gallery.
