"55% think wargaming prevents dementia."

The other 45%… have clearly forgotten their last rules' argument.

On a serious note, if pushing lead, remembering obscure modifiers, arguing about line of sight and recalling what happened three turns ago doesn't keep the brain ticking over, we're all in trouble anyway.

At worst, we may still go senile but we'll go organised, with properly based units and a firm belief that we were winning on points.

link suggests that the majority may be right, and that painting, as a creative hobby, also helps.

We did not, oddly enough, explore the possibility that wargaming is a symptom of mental illness, though not dementia. I'm pretty sure that we could make it into the DSM with a little lobbying.

I have thought about it as a possibility. My wife plays solitaire and mahjong on the computer to keep her mind working. Anything that keeps you using your mind maybe keeps or at least slows it from going into dementia. There is a lot more to know about dementia than we know.
