Just saw a pick of someone with a mini in one of those holders like GW sell.

Because people don't have fingers.

Because kids fingers are worse than old folks now.

Because alcoholism isn't a thing and people can't find corks.

Because people don't use GW paint and have some empties lying around.

Because the blutac factory burnt down.

That aside..,

Is this a scam to sell more paint?

If your painting a unit of 10-20, do people actually have 10-20 holders?

If not you have to muck around changing figure before your paint dries out.

Or do they want you to have your paint dry out, so you have to open the pot and use more?

Then this may be solved by buying their wet pallet, whatever that is, paper I think?

If I'm correct, they make an expensive device for no reason that you have to either buy several of, or buy a wet pallet, or just buy more paint.

I'm sure someone even got a raise.

There's several companies that sell miniature holders, it's not a GW thing

Clearly some people like them

Grognards on this site will vote for popsicle sticks or just holding them by the bases

Wet palettes have a number of benefits, I use a DIY version

I don't really know how dedicated a Grognard I am, but am increasingly recognizing it in people my age

"it's not a GW thing"

Actually it is.

"or just holding them by the bases"

Like a normal person. It has nothing to do with being old or experienced in wargaming. Give anyone a model to paint and they will instinctively hold it in their hands. It's called evolution.

It's just another cash grab like most unnecessary tools.

GW have a history of this, mould line remover, tin and literal mug sold as bitz box and water pot. Something that "does something" that you really don't need, but it says Warhammer so people buy it.

You still neglected to explain how it works re a unit of 20 figures.

I'm guessing it sits in a draw and you don't talk about it.

There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of how capitalism works here. If you can sell a product for more than the cost of the last unit produced, it is profitable to do so. Consumers are free to make their own choices.

I paint batches of 100+figs. I mount each fig. on a roofing nail with hot glue. Get high temp glue sticks but apply on low temp setting which allows them to pop off easier. I have boards with holes drilled that allow 50 nails to be inserted so this system is great for rattle can priming. I don't paint each figure start to finish. Rather I apply a single color to the entire batch. I like the nail system because when painting, I can rotate the figure quickly between thumb and forefinger. In the past three years I've painted 2000 28mm figs to a high tabletop standard using this system
