I am surprised I have not seen anything on this forum about the new Starcraft game. I have been following and watching things online about the game and think it looks promising. I was just wondering what everyone else thinks before I infest to much. I loved the computer game and everything I see, including the mini's look to be on point. |

Not sure the cost, but it would not be the first game I bought for parts. |

I hadn't read about it. Here's a link (always helpful): starcraft-tmg.com My assessment: Solid stand-ins for 40K. In some cases, better. I like the Terran mechs— although the crotch-gun is pushing things. I mean, really? The not-Aliens/Genestealers are fine, but that Queen is just stupid looking. (Yes, I'm sure it's in the video game line at some point. Still stupid.) The not-Eldar/not-Tau/not-Covenant things are nicely done. HOWEVER: It's too pricey for my blood, the starter set features the force I'm least interested in ("Proteus") and I have limited interest in another 40K knock-off (and I don't like 40K to begin with). So a pass for me. YMMV. |

Just to correct something the starter set is Terran and Zerg. Allot of people compare it to 40K but from what I have seen the only similarity is they are both sci-fy. Thanks for putting in a link my mistake for not putting it in. |

Dumbest release ever. Intro website has no figure images. At least none this Boomer could find… |

Pricey. If it's great there will be opportunities to get it later. If it's terrible there will be opportunities to pick up cheap copies for the minis. There are not a lot of big commercial IP minis games like this recently that I really like, so I'm waiting. I'm not even sure what I would want from this game. I'm looking forward to watching some people painting the figures on YouTube. |

Sorry, yes "Zerg" is the not-Genestealer force. "Proteus" is the not-Eldar/Covenant (Halo) force. And yes, Starcraft is technically different from 40K, just as Warcraft is different from Warhammer. But let's be real here— both computer games were trying to be directly reminiscent of both tabletop games from GW, in look if not in fluff. Heck, Warcraft even had green orcs! And these minis mimic the same general look. (Particularly the obvious Space Marines clones.) I personally don't care, but it would be nice to see something original out there! |
