In the book "Wehrmachtin Panssarit Suomessa" (Tanks of the Wehrmacht in Finland) there are photos of German tank crews with mosquito netting covering their face and head. Assumng this was effective to some degree, why wasn't this sort of thing done in the jungles of the Pacific or even Viet Nam? Seems like it wouuld have helped. I have a vague memory of an old WW2 movie (no idea what the title is) where a soldier slaps a bug on his face during training and gets yelled at by the DI/DS (don't recall if he was army or marines) for giving away the position. |

WWII British had anti-mosquito equipment, mainly intended to protect the troops from malaria. Various items included protective anti-mosquito hoods, gloves and boots, as well as mosquito repellent and insectide spray. |

The sort of thing they wear today in rural Australia: link Seems to me, it would have been useful in tropical battle fields. |

I've seen photos of such gear in the Desert War but not in any of the Pacific. Doesn't mean it didn't happen. |
