AWI Boston Garrison. 1. 23rd foot, Royal Welch Fusiliers in bearskin. Grenadier figures don't work. The cap is too tall, and the birds nests on the shoulders are wrong for Fusiliers. 2. Boston Massacre. The 1770 British uniforms are halfway between FIW and 1768 Warrant. (Not all figures are for Brandywine scenarios.) Throw in some period MDF buildings too, while we're at it. Washington Crossing the Delaware. The Leutze painting, with the full crew. Figures between AWI and War of 1812. Whiskey Rebellion, James Wilkinson, Arnold's fizzled "adventure". Comanche Chief Iron Jacket. I would be interested to see what a sculptor would make of him. I would buy ONE! 🙄 |

I'm a 28mm guy, but with a lot of 25mm in my collections. That's what I'm asking for. But, if there are "missing" figures, or models in other ranges, feel free. Not meant as a Poll Suggestion popularity contest, but that might be interesting. Not meant for purely American armies either. Mine just happened to be listed. |

John, I converted some Old Glory grenadiers into fusiliers by filing down the bearskins and filing off the birds nests. It wasn't hard to do, but they met my needs well enough. |

Given that it's the 250th anniversary of the Crossing of the Delaware, I'm surprised that no company is planning on making the Leutze figures . Calling Brigade Games! (LOL) |

You know, I'd have to pass. Time was. There are some historical 2mm AFVs I could use--6-wheel and 8-wheel armored cars top the list, but those are vehicles, not figures. And I'd love to expand my reserve of RISK figures to include Napoleonic heavy cavalry and SYW hussars, but it's not as though no one makes such figures in 10mm. I just want a big cheap reserve, just in case. The only actual figure I've been looking for lately without success is a 28mm Ferengi bartender. You'd think someone… |

Geb at GRINGO40s knows the song, and I have hopes. I want them as an stl, though, so I can have a significant (real) herd. But four different longhorns on a cloudy base would do for a "spell effect" of the Wild Hunt Out West. Hmmm, and I'm going to ask GROK . . . |

Back on land… I want 1/72 (or 20mm) artillery that doesn't suck. So many of the plastic 1/72 guns are plain, or misshapen, or just not up to the standards of the uniformed human figures that stand near them. A lot of the lead ones are poorly scaled or badly proportioned. And there just isn't enough variety – there are too many missing guns. On a tear researching my options a few years ago I concluded that I already missed the best ones, all made by Hinchliffe when I was too young for historical miniatures gaming. |
miniMo | 02 Apr 2026 8:55 a.m. PST |
Nearly all types of dismounted Napoleonic cavalry. There's a smattering of Dragoons out there, but skirmish games like The Silver Bayonet call for all sorts of dismounted types. Cuirassier and Hussar options are particularly missed. Also for skirmish games, Artillery crew who are melee fighting rather than standing around striking a pose beside the gun. For feudal Japan, female ashigaru (the total numbers are debatable, but quite historically attested in the records and archaeology) and female peasants throwing rocks (with and without slings, who took part in field battles as well as sieges). I've put my request in with Bad Squiddo, but currently still unavailable. Boshin War & Satsuma Rebellion (1868–1877). Bac Ninh Miniatures has some lovely but limited options, trying to do a game still calls for a lot of kitbashing and/or hunting for proxy figures. At least Bac Ninh sells separate heads to help with the kitbashing. |

"Washington Crossing the Delaware. The Leutze painting, with the full crew. " 28mm I assume? I'll move it back to the top of my project list (I already have it all sketched out, and still figuring out how to model the boat.) If you know what the object is at the bottom of the boat, under Washington, that would be a help… ;-) (Oh, and the flag is all off, with 20+ stripes, but that's a painting problem… ;-) |

Well, it is from 1848, and is supposed to be an allegory for Revolution. That might explain the stars. I particularly like the woman pulling an oar, and the guy puking over the side. |

Time for me to eat some crow: I want 1/72 (or 20mm) artillery that doesn't suck. While trying to answer someone else's question, I discovered that the guns made by Hagen Miniaturen in Germany are really nice. Only French and British are available, but that's most of what I have right now anyway. I probably discovered these before and dismissed them because of the cost, which is only going up as I type. But the point stands, there are some decent 1/72 Napoleonic artillery pieces in the world that I can acquire. Maybe Hagen will get around to doing Austrian and Russian artillery too, someday. - Ix |

28mm AWI Ferguson's Rifles – I know Foundry makes one or two prone figures that you can make work. But I want the entire unit in multiple poses and a dismounted Ferguson. 28mm George Washington on horseback wearing his hat. All the 28mm ones have him holding his hat not doing anything. Perry makes a great looking Washington wearing a hat but you have to order a whole kit of stuff to get it. 15mm French Republican toops for the FPW. 15mm ACW prone figures firing. 15mm ACW MOUNTED horse holders. 28mm 1940 Germans in rigid-hulled inflatable boats. 28mm 1940 French Air Force ground crews. 28mm 1940 French Camionnette Peugeot DK5J Truck 28mm 1940 French anti-aircraft gun and crew. 28mm WW2 ETO ONE story buildings and not something I have to assemble. 28mm AWI British Foot in row boats, in warrant uniforms. 28mm 1941-42 American infantry in the Philippines Range. Including horse mounted cavalry and dismounts with mounted horse holders. 28mm Boer War Winston Churchill. Must be better than the one that was made by someone years ago. I have it but we can do better. |
