A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of a return visit to Tenerife to indulge in a bit of winter sun following the deluge of the last couple of months experienced in the UK and further indulged myself with a visit to Santa Cruz to see what remains to be seen of the three naval actions fought off and in the town following the landings by Nelson's squadron in 1797, with the three victories against the English/British commemorated on the town's coat of arms in the form of three lion heads.

In a two part post I have looked at various items associated with the battles among other militaria held in the Military Museum in Santa Cruz together with a look at the landmarks around the town that helps the interested visitor recreate the activities of Nelson's men that attempted to capture the place.
