Regarding the oil ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga, which are close to St. Petersburg, IIRC those have been attacked by Ukrainian drones a number of times in the past year, so the prospect of further attacks should not have taken the Russian leadership by surprise. |

There is some evidence that they had deployed anti-drone nets, but the anti-air defenses seem to have been sparse at best. Also, this attack was much larger scale than previously. |

Too bad someone lifted sanctions on Russia. Temporarily, I believe. Russia was going to get higher prices anyway, but this brings oil prices down globally – which I appreciate. Quite a shock when I filled the gas tank today! |

There is some evidence that they had deployed anti-drone nets I have seen some pictures of the Primorsk oil port, and it is not a small place – lots of big huge oil storage tanks. Trying to protect those with anti-drone nets sounds challenging. |
