Jhmmm… Isn't AWI in the 18th century? |

Thanks, Armand. British mitres are a moving feast, with details changing every time the CO got heartburn, it seems. Compare this photo (I took the photo, with permission from the ex-Fuilier on the front desk, in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers museum in Caernarfon castle), which is a replica of an original that's held by the museum, with the illustration (bottom centre of the 2nd page above).
Jhmmm… Isn't AWI in the 18th century? Yes, but just a little bit. It's near the end, after all the interesting things, like the Potato War (WBS), had happened.

When I was painting up a Plains of Abraham game, I used Funcken. I have since regarded Funcken as more "striving for completion" than "striving for accuracy". 🙄🤷 I remain jaded. My painting mantra is "as the Colonel (the painter!) shall decide." And that's a direct quote from the Warrants. These are a bit more colorful. Perhaps I would have preferred them. But, water under the interstate. |

I did much the same, mate. Now I use Kronoskaf as the final arbiter for SYW. Sometimes C18 uniforms have more interpretations than a packed UN meeting. Even the Delacre Bilderhandschrift, which was supposedly compiled from coloured sketches of members from the regiments, disagrees with contemporary regimental histories. Then there's the contradictions between the text, notes and illustrations in the two Dessauer Spezifikation (good for producing a four-aspirin headache). As you say, you're the regiment's Inhaber, so you're right. |

When you consider that each Regiment had its own UNIQUE facing color, things get interesting. We have 10 different shades of green? Ditto for buff and yellow? And each regiment had its own chemist who made up the specific dye for its facings. So, there was Green. Deep Green. Gosling Green. Etc. Then, it took a specific Warrant to "discourage" the livery and heraldry of its titular Colonel being used in its Colours. It had to be repeated, which shows how much attention was paid the first time. So, yeah. I wish I had this particular painting guide when I was painting Grenadier caps. Not that I consider it more accurate. 🤷 Just a more colorful choice. 😄 The Cool Factor comes in here. |

Just a more colorful choice. 😄 The Cool Factor comes in here. That's how I chose my units, mate. The combination of flags and facings, and damn the ORBAT. Plus I cheated and used decals for the mitres and Light Horse caps. link link |

Where did you get those decals? I could have used them, once upon a time. |
