French general Lorences, apparently otherwise competent, at Puebla charges his Zouaves straight up the fortified heights and gets defeated (well, a rainstorm helped). What was he thinking? Was he just arrogant, or was it a reasonable theory that the Mexicans would break when assaulted? |
