It must be spring because the 2 metre by 1 metre artificial grass playmats are back in Lidl. I seem to mention these every year. Intended to cover garden decking or balconies these mats are waterproof and have a rubberised backing which lies flat quite easily. Great to take to a pub or club meet. These roll up and can be carried under one arm. YouTube link Barry

Sounds like a good deal. The video didn't show a relative close-up of the mat. What is the length of the grass "fibers"?

@myxemail It is quite short so bases slide over it easily. I used one of mine in the Over The Trenches video here: YouTube link Go to time code 8:48 to see my mat in use at a recent show with Wings of Glory models. Close-up of counters at 9:27 shows how short it is. My first coverage was here a couple of years ago and looks at the product in greater detail. YouTube link As noted they were available in Aldi as well and in those days Lidl charged £9.99 GBP but Aldi were under cutting them. In the commentary I describe it as a 'nice plush' and estimated the fibres as about 2 mm. Another product which does turn up is the 'hairy' mat which might suit jungle, green wheat or long grass in roughly 28mm: YouTube link Barry
