Sigh. Sorry, I will try to be more clear: the POINT is the last sentence in what I posted, the rest being context: "and we will see what happens with whether that eventually becomes a U.S. asset!" Given that the speaker is a major cabinet officer, we can presume, can we not, that the US taking possession of Kharg is under discussion by National Command Authority? Unless of course Bessant is off the reservation and making stuff up on the fly? Or is it more likely that Trump wanted him to drop that little . . . hint? threat? warning? Of course we know Trump is incapable of doing twisty sneaky mind games in a negotiation. Somebody should write a book about that! Anyway, if we need a parachuting secretary I'll bet Hegseth has been through jump school. |
