I've been watching Plastic Soldier Review for new figure reviews for multiple years now, and it seems most (all?) of Linear-A company's figures are 3D printed. Wondering if the Hive Mind of TMP can shed some light on this query.

Does Linear-A print figures using the typical brittle resins, or do they mix in some more pliable, durable resin in their printed mini's?

I have found some truly wonderful 3D printed figures on the Internet, but the one's I've purchased thus far are all so damned brittle I hate to use them in gaming! I've dropped several at my painting table, only to have them break off at the ankles! GAAAHHH! I try not to allow myself to purchase any 3D printed figures because of their brittleness… Cheers!

There should be no excuse for a commercial manufacturer to use cheap "brittle" resin these days. Most manufactures have a version of tough resin which is more pliable for tabletop figures. I have found printers on Etsy or Ebay selling figures printed with cheap resin.

I use Anycubic Toughv2 which is more expensive than the standard or water washable resin but the results are excellent. If you are using a printer for custom printing hopefully you can specify the resin used.

As for Linear -A – is that the Germany company that sells 1/72 sets from a variety of manufacturers and their own? Their website is horrible! I checked because I never heard of them. Now they do have a range called New Master figures which talk about molds and masters so maybe some are not 3d printed? Might be worthwhile to send them an inquiry on the resin used.

Some, I believe, are traditionally made. PSR appeaes to do a good job of identifying 3d models. I can't speak to their fragilness.

Older ranges were plastic but the newer boxesseem to be all resin. I have samples of both.

Their resin figures are of the highest quality (& price too).

I don't know the technical details like DeRuyter but the resin seems to be like a high quality plastic. Spears etc have the ability to be bent to a degree & don't snap like the "old" resin figures did.

Thanks for that, DeRuyter, 79thPA, and ochoin. Very helpful information. Cheers!
