I have used Fernando several times and I didn't pay any money until I viewed and approve the paint job. Now they want me to pay the full amount upfront. I can understand paying half now and half when completed. So I asked about it and then was told I don't have to. But now I am being asked again for full payment before they will start on the commission. So is that what everyone is doing now? It's a little disconcerting. |

Every time I have used their service I had to pay up front. |

I have sent over 50 orders of different sizes to Fernando over the last 20 or so years. I have NEVER paid upfront. I have an order there now that they have started on and sent sample pictures that I have NOT paid for |

Strange inconsistency at play here. |

I think Santh reads TMP, maybe he will give a response. |

I recall always paying half upfront with the shipment, and another half about the time full painting started. |

I could see paying half up front because they have to pay their expenses while painting, etc. And people can be flakes and just not pay up once the minis are done. Paying all upfront reeks of a scam to me. |

I pay some up front and some on completion. Last time, IIRC, it was about 50:50 but the latest order I currently have with them is more like 75% up front. I can't see how it is a scam and as you can see from the comments above that lots of people use them with no issues. They also will do lots of re-work if you're not satisfied with the original paint job; it can be awkward doing corrections by email across time-zones but in my experience if you stick with it they will get there in the end. |

The only issue that I have ever had with Fernando Enterprises is that on large lots of figures several different artists are obviously used, and some are better than others. NEVER have had an issue with paying for something that I didn't get. |

I used their service for 20 years before retirement, always paid the full price up front, and any extra shipping costs after the job was complete. |

We can probably thank the grifters among us for stiffing the business which is now enforcing the pay up front policy. |

I think you're onto something. So if a few were doing it without requiring it, so why don't we start making everyone pay upfront. Thanks guys. I also use Artmasters and they have never ask for money upfront. I have used a few services in the past that wanted half now and half upon completion. I have had buildings made for me and only pay when completed. |

If it is a large order/large sum of money, can you call them and talk to someone? International phone call fees can't be that bad as they transmit the call via the Internet. You might be able to circumnavigate all fees by using the Internet to place a call, even a video call, through MS Teams, or some other meeting software. Bear in mind time zone differences, however. Cheers! |

all companies investing in Painting eventually suffer the same problem of wargaming complete and the customer wanting the stuff but something more important comes up a car bill, a holiday etc etc, and wargaming figures seem a distant priority. When you have wages to pay, insurance, rent etc you need people to pay, enough idiots take the and it ruins trust for all. Like getting a builder fo a project ask to schedule the payments, 50% upfront and then 50% half way through and postage paid at end, sadly this also means more admin and thus cost |
