"President Donald Trump says potential new leadership in Iran has contacted the U.S. and said they want to speak with the president, a senior White House official told Fox News on Sunday.

Trump indicated that he does plan to talk with replacement Iranian leadership soon, but the White House says Operation Epic Fury is continuing nonetheless.

"President Trump said new potential leadership in Iran has indicated they want to talk and eventually he will talk. For now, Operation Epic Fury continues unabated," the official said."

"Austin bar mass shooter possibly motivated by Iran attacks, Quran found in car as FBI eyes terrorism after 2 killed, 14 injured

The killer, who is a US citizen from Senegal, had a Quran in his car and clothing described as Islamic garb when he opened fire on Buford's Backyard Beer Garden near the University of Texas-Austin campus, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

The gunman has a history of arrests in Texas, and is believed to have lived in New York City from 2000 to 2008, the sources said."

Senegal is 85% Muslim.

"HAPPENING NOW: Massive U.S.-Israeli airstrikes ROCK Tehran, Iran, as President Trump tells The Atlantic that the country's new leadership wants to talk to him and he plans to do so.

"They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them. They should have done it sooner. They should have given what was very practical and easy to do sooner. They waited too long," Trump told The Atlantic in a phone call from his Mar-a-Lago club shortly before 9:30 a.m.

The Atlantic: "Asked whether his conversation with the Iranians would happen today or tomorrow, Trump responded, ‘I can't tell you that.' He noted that some of the Iranians involved in negotiations in recent weeks were no longer alive. ‘Most of those people are gone. Some of the people we were dealing with are gone, because that was a big—that was a big hit,' he told me. ‘They should have done it sooner, Michael. They could have made a deal. They should've done it sooner. They played too cute.'"

Doc, I'm waiting for a new commercial from the "international Fellowship of Christians and Jews" saying; "that we must save the poor elderly Jews, dying of starvation in Iran today. We need your $25 USD to $50 USD donations today, before it's too late!" They have not missed the opportunities of one of these attacks yet, Russia, Ukraine and Israel. 😉

"US President Donald Trump (
@POTUS
), on Truth Social, posts, "I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships, some of them relatively large and important. We are going after the rest — They will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also! In a different attack, we largely destroyed their Naval Headquarters. Other than that, their Navy is doing very well!"

Reminds me of that old joke from the 80's

The Question: "How does the Ayatollah view his navy?"
The Answer: "Through a glass-bottom boat."

I see videos of people in Iran celebrating the destruction of Khamenei and top leadership, and hope and pray they then take ACTION! The US is NOT going to send "boots on the ground." Trump has made it very clear the US "has their back" with airpower and maybe, maybe US force could include SpecOps – but THEY will have to rise up en masse and dismantle the Islamist regime. As he's said, their future is within their grasp -- and if they let it slip away it will be generations of more misery under islamist rule…

SB agree 100% The people, if they truly want change, have to take it upon themselves, just as in in Venezuela.

Jumping up and down and dancing in the streets accomplishes nothing. Opportunities don't happen every day. It's not our job to create a new government there or in Venezuela.

But not everyone is happy.

"left-wing actress Jane Fonda spoke at a protest in Los Angeles, outside City Hall, to rail against President Donald Trump's military engagement in Iran, calling the president's actions dangerous and insane" and an "unprovoked" war.

The extremist actress often known as "Hanoi Jane" Fonda claimed that Trump's attack on Iran reminded her of Vietnam, a country she visited in the 1960s to support America's enemies.

Fonda accused Trump of engaging in an illegal war and said he is putting "profit over people."

"Right now we are witnessing the horror of an unnecessary, unprovoked war of choice, raged by the Trump administration, that has already taken the lives of dozens of schoolchildren because they bombed a girls' school in Iraq, among other civilian targets. Right now, parents are pulling their children out of the rubble, their bodies out of the rubble," Fonda said."

Maybe she can sit on an Iranian missile, just before they launch it. 🚀

Of course she is long past being one of their virgins in paradise. 😉

Relying on X for reliability is almost as comical as relying on Truth. How adorable. 🥰

By the way, do you think China is taking notes? Someone is tracking how many cruise missiles have been expended.
By the way, are the Tomahawk factories running overtime? Or did they shut down when the contracted numbers were produced? Tooling contractually destroyed? I'm asking because I don't know. It has happened in the past for other weapons systems.

"The suspect in a deadly mass shooting in Austin has been identified as Ndiaga Diagne

Diagne, 53, was a naturalized citizen who was born in Senegal and lived in Pflugerville, Texas, multiple outlets reported.

The person could be seen carrying a weapon and wearing a sweater reading "Property of Allah."
"I am told he was also wearing an undershirt that had an Iranian flag on it,""

But…

"While Doran said it was "way too early" to determine motive, he noted there were indicators "on the subject and in his vehicle that indicate a potential nexus to terrorism."

He explained that investigators were reviewing those indicators closely with Austin police."

Right, no reason to suspect terrorism here. Just move along now. 😏

SBminisguy01 Mar 2026 12:36 p.m. PST

By the way, do you think China is taking notes? Someone is tracking how many cruise missiles have been expended.

Yes -- but probably not how you think. This is the SECOND regional Chinese ally the US has removed from play, which cuts off 25% of China's oil supplies. They see an assertive US that no longer plays empty "red line" threat games and whose military has done an amazing operation in Venezuela to take Maduro that China could not possibly have done. Now we see that even without the support of fickle and weak UK leadership denying important air base access, the US-Israeli masterful take down of Russian/Chinese air defenses followed by precision decapitation stikes shows their systems are not as capable as the US, and an exercise of global strength China currently cannot match. China even rushed, according to some reports, additional defense systems and advisor/operators to Iran before the strikes. Didn't change the outcome.

China has been playing the "long game" of try to appear strong when it is relatively weak and has no global power reach, delaying weak and inconsistent Western leaders from showing resolve until China is ready to strike. It's as if after the Germans bluffed their way into reoccupying the Ruhr and Alsace-Lorraine, that Britain and France challenged Hitler and stymied his plans to take Austria knowing Germany was not ready yet for actual war.

Yes, a war with China is to be avoided, it will bloody and deadly in many ways, but they will lose on the current trajectory. The CCP itself is shaky, Xi has just completed a Stalinesque purge of top officers and polticos from suspect or rival factions, though many factions remain -- the Eight Immortal Families, the Old Guard, the New Guard, with competing visions of the future, etc.

So yes -- they are paying attention…and so far all they are doing is stomping their feet and planning on how to shift gears.

Say…wouldn't it be a real pity if US pressure on Djibouti bore fruit and China lost their naval basing rights there? Like Panama, which has severed commercial ties with China and taken back control of the Panama Canal port zones?

Arguing now about a president getting permission from Congress before attacking another power? How adorable!

That ship sailed more than fifty years ago.

The War Powers Act, approved by Congress, gives a president (any president, whether you agree with them or not), 60 days to run rampant before going to Congress. Was that a good idea? Perhaps they should have debated that at the time. It's too late now.

Congress needs to get back in the business of taking its own powers seriously but is too busy lining their own pockets while never solving anything so they can keep the grift going. That is why so many of them go to Washington without much personal wealth and come back rich as can be.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP01 Mar 2026 12:47 p.m. PST

I am not sure there were any large or important ships in the very modest Iranian Navy, but one of them likely gave targeting info to the Houthi gang launching missile at ships so good riddance.

I wonder how the war will affect the proxy terror groups? They are all the mullahs creations, I believe. I hope the logistical support will be hard for them to come by.

As for Hegseth, nominally in command here, my opinion is that he plays a limited role after his first performance compared to qualified general officers like Caine. Hesgeth is a good PR man, does push-ups, talks tough. Caine knows how to assess, what to do. I hope.

I wonder if there is more of a plan. What if "They" don't step up to form a working government. I think "We" could be in for some nation building… agree it's not our job, but now we have started. I suspect some chaos in Iran is possible, the Guards are still around. Perhaps we already have some "Theys" all set? Who decided to attack and then wait for Them? Just seems like it's not thought out.

Let Fonda enjoy her 1st amendment rights just as crazies on all sides do. That's America. Ignore her.

I posted a photo yesterday of a group of " frigates?" One of which was hit. They have some converted ships, one of which is a drone carrier (or was.. who knows, maybe it is now a submarine. 😉). Lots of small speed boats, for lack of another name.

My guess is now that air defenses are shot, nuke sites hit, leadership hit, missile sites being continuously targeted, the Guard infrastructure will be next.

Given that we have air supremacy, and assuming that CIA and Mossad DO have "boots on the ground", I am guessing that we can make, and will see, air drops of, oh, say 10,000 rifles into places where the regime's thugs cannot easily go. Iran is a big place, and if their command and control is fragmented as it clearly is, the regime's ability to exert power will diminish rapidly.

Preaching to the choir.
I always felt that passing "An Authorization to use force" was a cowardly way out for Congress. It's not even plausible deniability. "I didn't think you would go that far! So I'm now clutching my pearls and shaking my head!"

The strike on Iran cannot be considered as anything other than an Act of War. To my simple mind, it requires a Declaration. One reason is that it commits Congress, and doesn't let them weasel out.

Hegseth is certainly a public face of the War Department. He is a political appointee. Sometimes they have expertise in the areas their agency deals with, sometimes not. Hegseth probably knows more about war than Trump does, just as Jeff Davis knew more about war than Lincoln did. If he knows how to delegate and how to listen, he does okay.

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP01 Mar 2026 1:53 p.m. PST

John correct. Most heads of departments, are figureheads. Their ability to delegate is essential. But you need the right people there to delegate to. He has been doing a decent job of ousting the DEI appointees, the missions have gone off well so far, so he must be delegating to the right people.

He also gets down to the soldier's level.

And ….

He can bench over 300 pounds. No mean feat for his size and weight and at his age. 😉

Speaking of the Devil

"The U.S. Military said Sunday that the headquarters of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had been destroyed during the joint U.S.-Israel military strikes launched over the weekend.

"The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) killed more than 1,000 Americans over the past 47 years. Yesterday, a large-scale U.S. strike cut off the head of the snake. America has the most powerful military on earth, and the IRGC no longer has a headquarters," U.S. Central Command said, posting a video of the strikes."

Yeah -- guess the Islamist regime being at war with the US since 1979 whether or not US presidents acted on it doesn't matter?? Since 1979 the Islamic "Republic" has killed and injured thousands of Americans as far away as Bueno Aires -- bombs, assassinations, IEDs, drones and missiles. About time a president took action.

Congress, supposedly, represents the Will of the People.
I don't care who your favorite Bogey Person Congress Critter is. They have a constituency, which you may or may not agree with.
So, before we commit ourselves to a War like this, it is imperative to have the People approve.
It's as simple as that.
So, even if our Muslim members of Congress would vote against it, they still represent their constituents.

Besides many Constitutional Scholars, etc. would disagree. A Ret. US GEN IIRC "Spider" Marks, just said something like, with the speed information travels to day, etc.

To somehow not let the POTUS do the job the Constitution outlines for him. If everything kinetic action takes Congress to discuss it vote on it, etc. It will always be too late. Opportunities will pass, lives lost, etc. This is not the AWI, War of 1812, ACW, etc., etc. all things in war moves much faster than ever before …

Plus the fact many in Congress don't like the POTUS, his Admin etc. They don't care or understand anything about OPSEC. Too many things would leak accidently but as likely purposefully. They don't care about American lives, regardless of the drivel they preach. Their goal is to soil the POTUS and try to get him impeached …again …

Tort – 1 … Your evaluation again is just plain wrong about Hegseth. I've been saying this for some time. And the SecWar does not work alone. He has a very capable staff, including the JCS, various commands, etc. E.g. compare him to Austin. There is no comparison. Many believe as I do. He like, the JCS Commander, the VP, the WH spokesperson, SecTrans, etc., etc. They all were DEI hires. That has nothing to do with race, sex, sexual preference, etc. But they clearly lacked the abilities to do the job. That is what it is all about. Not anything else.

Well, the "Hezbos" (Hezbollah) are officially in the fight as of tonight. The last time they launched missiles into Israel was back in 2024 and before.

People in my government who have infinitely MORE experience and knowledge than I do in matters of state reasonably have to do what they have to do to eliminate potential threats to not only my/this country, but also to our allies. My concern now is the homefront; last night in Austin was a glaring example and a warning. These terrorist jokers do their homework WAY too well, and this year's World Cup playing here in North America and any associated events cause me (and I'm sure MANY, many others) a certain amount of concern for everyone's safety.

Maybe "Operation Epic Fury" should have taken place after the upcoming festivities, but then again you have the 2028 Summer Olympics, not to mention our traditional annual holidays and celebrations. I guess what I'm asking is that when is it the right time to tear the proverbial "Band-Aid" off? God only knows, but what *I* definitely know is that now that we've become a "global community", we'd better have some "titanium safeguards" to protect our citizens and property.

"The U.S. and several Gulf allies issued a joint statement condemning what they described as Iran's "indiscriminate and reckless" missile and drone attacks across the region, calling the strikes a dangerous escalation and reaffirming their collective right to self-defense.

The statement – issued by the governments of the United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – signaled a unified front against Tehran and underscored deepening regional coordination in response to Iran's cross-border missile and drone attacks.

"The United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates strongly condemn the Islamic Republic of Iran's indiscriminate and reckless missile and drone attacks against sovereign territories across the region," the statement read. "These unjustified strikes targeted sovereign territory, endangered civilian populations and damaged civilian infrastructure."

"The Islamic Republic's actions represent a dangerous escalation that violates the sovereignty of multiple states and threatens regional stability," it continued. "The targeting of civilians and of countries not engaged in hostilities is reckless and destabilizing behavior."

"We stand united in defense of our citizens, sovereignty and territory, and reaffirm our right to self-defense in the face of these attacks," the statement added. "We remain committed to regional security and commend the effective air and missile defense cooperation that has prevented far greater loss of life and destruction.""

Saginaw,

We allowed the enemy into our homeland and hearths. Many without any vetting whatsoever. The killer in Austin came in during the Obama administration. But others have come in during other administrations of both parties.

It does not matter what we do now or do later, those who came in here would eventually have found a reason to attack us. They have done it before, with no provocations.

Watch your backs and your surroundings and always be vigilant. It's all you can do, will except carry if your state allows it.

From the Daily Mail

"Trump also revealed a potential timeline for the war with Iran – suggesting fighting could go on for the next four weeks.

'It's always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so. It's always been about a four-week process so – as strong as it is, it's a big country, it'll take four weeks – or less,' the president explained. "

I would not count on that being definitive. 😉

But shows it's not unlimited mission.

SBminisguy01 Mar 2026 7:38 p.m. PST

@John the OFM

Indeed -- and President Trump represents the will of the majority of the People having won both the EC and Popular Vote. As for this military action, the President is abiding by the War Powers Act by informing Congress (he informed in advance, the Act says within 48hrs action commences), and then has 60 days to continue operations even if Congress votes to invoke and enforce the Act, and then 30 more days to wind down and stop.

Cuprum201 Mar 2026 8:22 p.m. PST

So, the war is in its second day, under overwhelming Western information pressure… Trumpets of success are being trumpeted, but it's too early to judge how true this is…

- Khomeini is assassinated – the fanatics have a new martyr and a banner for resistance. Jihad has been declared, There's a high probability of a new wave of terrorist attacks in the West. And not just from pro-Iranian forces but from any Islamic radicals.. His son is being tipped as the new religious leader.
- A significant portion of Iran's military leadership has been destroyed… But I don't see any signs of disorganization in Iran yet… Perhaps parallel command structures have been created?
- Despite Trump's statements about Iran's alleged request for negotiations, neutral media outlets report that Iran has rejected the possibility of negotiating with the aggressor.
- Iran is attacking primarily with obsolete missiles and drones… Perhaps it wants to exhaust the enemy's missile defenses? – American ships are trying to stay out of range of Iranian anti-ship missiles, which means Iran's coastal defenses still remain dangerous.
- I haven't heard anything about the destruction of even one of Iran's underground "missile cities." This means Iran still has plenty of resistance.
- An American strategic missile defense radar has been destroyed, and American military bases have suffered significant damage.
- The Gulf states are critically dependent on foreign supplies. Strikes on airports and the closure of the strait will cause them great problems.
- Energy prices will rise. And the whole world will feel it soon enough.
- If the war drags on, money will begin to be withdrawn en masse from the Persian Gulf countries…
This is all just a guess; nothing is certain yet…

Oh yes, now negotiations with the US will mean for most of their opponents that the US is very likely preparing a strike at this very time… An excellent starting point for any future negotiations.

Iran's goal is simply to hold out.
The US and Israel have a finite number of missiles, and the intensity of the strikes will decrease. Then it will make sense to use air defenses at full capacity.
The main thing is to contain the situation internally. The Persians usually unite in the face of external aggression. We'll see what happens this time. Especially since they hate the Shah and will never accept him back.
And most importantly, if there is no uprising and no ground operation, the Iranian regime will quickly recover. If there is a ground operation, Iran's adversaries will suffer heavy losses.

We'll see what happens this time. Especially since they hate the Shah and will never accept him back.

Nah, that was 50 years ago and the Mullah's are today. The islamist regime killed more Iranians in a single year than the Shah's infamous secret police killed in his Shah's entire 37 years as Irans leader. During this uprising alone the Mullahs have killed 10x more than the Shah's authoritarian rule killed -- and plus the haters of the day were islamists and leftists. The Iranian socialists hated the Shah and wanted to see Socialism/Communism in Iran, so they supported the Ayatollah anticipating once the Shah as toppled the Commies would take over while the Ayatollah would retire to a mosque or something.

They were all butchered! As soon as the Islamists took power the killed all the Commies -- well, the slow ones anyway!

Cuprum202 Mar 2026 12:28 a.m. PST

You're not taking into account that this is a completely different culture… Israel attacked Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan—that's a very important factor.

The Iranian opposition is divided and lacks support within the country. They're more likely to fight among themselves in a power struggle than to unite. And Israel's participation in the aggression is like a red rag to a bull… So everything is still very ambiguous.

And we also need to wait for Turkey's reaction—they have a very complicated relationship with Israel right now.

If the blitzkrieg fails to break Iran's will to resist, it will be the end of Trump's reign.

Personal logo ochoin Supporting Member of TMP02 Mar 2026 2:46 a.m. PST

Interesting "take", Cuprum2, but it assumes Iranian cohesion and Western paralysis far too readily.

"Holding out" stresses Iran internally as much as its opponents—sanctions, logistics, currency, and C2 degradation don't vanish just because strike tempo slows. Surviving underground facilities doesn't mean they remain supplied, integrated, or effective. Rally effects are real, but they fade fast if daily life collapses.

Ramadan matters for narrative, not strategy. Regional actors all have incentives to limit escalation. And wars have a habit of drifting into options nobody planned.

If this ends badly for Donald Trump, it'll be driven more by energy prices and economic shock than by early battlefield headlines. Nothing is decided yet but nothing here is as stable as suggested either.

I'm not saying this won't end badly for the the current US administration – it may – but you're jumping the gun & drawing a few as yet unwarranted conclusions.

Cuprum202 Mar 2026 3:09 a.m. PST

I'm not drawing any conclusions at all – I'm just outlining the situation. War is always a non-zero-sum game… Even a naked slinger has a slim chance of defeating a knight clad in iron… Her Majesty Fortune loves to joke…
Your arguments are valid, but Iran has been under sanctions for decades and has learned to live under such conditions, just as it has spent decades preparing for a defensive war (missile cities were built precisely for such a war).
Russia is unlikely to be able to provide Iran with any significant assistance right now (except perhaps food), but the Chinese leadership would be absolute idiots if they didn't support Iran in the fight. This is, to a large extent, a blow to China as well…
Now we'll just wait. Only time will tell how this situation will unfold.

The day before, a tanker was attacked and destroyed. It is becoming clear that one of Iran's goals is to destabilize the energy market…

There are reports that a British military base in Cyprus has been attacked…

There are also reports that Iranian aircraft have attacked targets in Kuwait.

Well, this is a good example for Putin of how to solve problems during proxy wars. If weapons are coming from your territory or planes are taking off, you're a participant in the war… with all the consequences.

"Three U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles were shot down in a friendly fire incident over Kuwait late Sunday during active combat operations tied to Operation Epic Fury, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said.

The aircraft were mistakenly engaged by Kuwaiti air defenses amid a complex battle environment that included attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles and drones.

All six aircrew members safely ejected, were quickly recovered, and are reported to be in stable condition.

Kuwaiti officials have acknowledged the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause."

Maybe, maybe))) Aren't the losses from "friendly" fire too high? And if Kuwait's air defense is so effective, then Iran's air defense is unlikely to be inferior to it…

Greece is sending two frigates to Cyprus to combat drones. A pair of Greek F-16 fighter jets are also being deployed to the island.
As far as one can tell, NATO air defenses aren't all that effective… The Cyprus base is in a fairly volatile area, and yet, the Shaheds reached their target.

Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons, but it could at any moment develop a "dirty" bomb and render Israeli territory uninhabitable for years. He could have done it at any point in the past, and he could be forced to do it now…
Although, judging by everything, he still has no interest in it.
