Any suggestions whether for the front chest the White Cross in center or side over heart, etc?

The "White Cross" Standard: To distinguish themselves from the Royalists, Montfort ordered his troops to wear white crosses on their chests and backs, signaling they were fighting for justice (a holy cause).

I would do a mix. If Montfort just said "wear a white cross", it would have been down to individual soldiers or contingent commanders to procure and attach.

I think it would resemble a badge like those in the picture rather than a larger affair.
