No…this is not what you think, although if you were an English Whig in the 18th century, it might be. A blog post on a few additions to my American War of Independence collection. The full post is here Filthy, revolting Americans and their law abiding neighbours

Great looking "ragged rebels!" And the Tory Queen's Rangers aren't half-bad either.

The character lower left in the second photo has obviously raided the local McDonalds. A lot.

Nice, characterful figures.

"retain water"? Jeez, the Great Lakes could be in danger.

My older brother was one of the re-enactor extras in Gettysberg, but at 6'4" and 300 pounds didn't exactly look like a "ragged Reb" so was DEEP background.

Buckwheat cakes and Indian batter makes you fat, or a little bit fatter

Nicely done!

As an FYI the Queen's Own York Rangers are very much still in business

Curious as to the blue flag. My Queen's Rangers have a Green flag from the Flag Dude. How did you decide to go with a blue flag?

I have a lot of respect for the Queen's Rangers, but especially by 1780, I'm not sure how many of them qualified as neighbors. Most of the officers by then were born in the British Isles, and no one seems to have counted the enlisted men by place of birth. Much easier to recruit immigrants from the Celtic Fringe to fill Tory regiments than among English and Dutch descendants who'd lived in North America for generations.

OC may have a point about the colours. This seems to be pretty accurate:

None of which should detract from hard work researching and painting, and a beautiful unit. Congratulations!

A splendid looking group! No matter what side they were on, I'd be proud to see them on a tabletop.
