Special military operation, 48 months on, according to Kremlin progress really strong, reinforcements just keep coming on all the way from mighty Kim Jung Un. Who stands to lose and who stands to gain as the army advances like a garden snail? Generals do not spare misery or pain - not even the common coffin nail. |

I suppose Putin could admit he was wrong all along and pull his troops out and respect Ukraine's borders. His loyal citizens would lynch him, of course. |

Currently, there is an offensive by Ukraine that has liberated more than 300 km˛… nobody talks about it… I wish they could see the mental and physical state of the Russians who surrender… of course, much better than the poor Ukrainians who are exchanged as prisoners of war… those are truly pathetic… Armand |
| Cuprum2 | 24 Feb 2026 4:49 p.m. PST |
Nobody has liberated anything anymore. This was a PR offensive in anticipation of the Geneva talks. Now the Russians have reclaimed all the territories captured during that attack… That's why no one talks about it. There's nothing to talk about))) |

A documentary filmed by a pro-Western journalist inside the Russian army. The film is good, but of course the material was chosen accordingly. When you watch it, keep in mind that almost all of these people went to war voluntarily. And the attitudes of soldiers fighting on the front lines and those serving in the rear are noticeably different. The film was shot in the spring of 2023. The war was just beginning. link |

In my (Dutch) newspaper today an article about the way Russians (and foreigners) are pressed into the Army. Age border is upgraded to 65, and more 45+-recruits are joining the army. They get high bonuses and reason "Now my son can get an apartment and if I die, just bad luck". Someone told the reporter he was just drinking a beer on a bench in the park, was arrested and threatened "Sign here, or we "find" drugs on you". Voluntarily ? In Nigeria (!) people (some 400) were offered jobs in Russia, but on arrival found that instead they were put in uniforms and sent to the front. I think that Cuprum2's "voluntary" may be looked at much more critically. |

No one is being conscripted into the army fighting in Ukraine. Russia has a contract army. And open borders. Those who are dissatisfied or afraid can easily leave for, say, Kazakhstan. Simply hop on a bus and leave the country without the need for a visa… Yes, the age limit for contract service has been raised to 65. Here's an online lawyer's response to someone asking how they can sign a contract if they're older. I think you can translate it yourself if you want.: pravoved.ru/question/4770603 "According to Federal Law No. 269-FZ, which came into effect in the summer of 2023, citizens aged 18 to 65 can serve under contract in 2025, and for senior officers, up to 70 years old. The maximum age limit for signing a contract for the SVO varies depending on the specific military specialty and the candidate's physical characteristics. For combat positions, such as riflemen or machine gunners, the upper age limit is usually in the range of 50-55 years, while for technical positions (driver mechanics, drone operators, food service specialists, etc.), it can be extended to 60-65 years." The story about signing a contract under police pressure is ridiculous. Well, unless this person was caught committing a crime and offered the option of joining the army instead of going to prison… There, in the Russian army, many Nigerians were forced to convert to Orthodoxy)))

And this is a clip about black Russians fighting on the front lines. It's immediately obvious that they were coerced and deceived))) link I'll translate: A dark-skinned boy fights, An African, our own, For Mother Russia, He stands tall with honor. Son of beautiful Africa, With all his soul, A Russian for sure, A hero in war. Vanya, Vanya, Vanechka. Give your enemies hell, You have two homelands, A heart in two. They'll ask your name, Say, I'm Vanya, With Russian soldiers, We are now family. Let there be no jungle here, No rainy savannahs, With our brothers to Victory, We march forward. Vanya, Vanya, Vanechka. Give your enemies hell, You have two homelands, A heart in two. The enemy will see Vanya and say, "What the hell? Africa boldly goes into battle for Russia." The boys are proud, To have such a friend, And him, as a Russian, Doesn't give him any fear. Vanya, Vanya, Vanechka. Give your enemies hell, You have two Motherlands, Your heart is in half. |

The film was shot in the spring of 2023. The war was just beginning. Try a better source than Pravda. In 2023 the war was over a year old. Russia was still taking heavy losses for very little gain. Ukraine was still fighting. Nothing's changed much since. |
