And neither are Arctic proof?

Yes, what was the nefarious plan? 🤨 What evil was being contemplated? 😈
Trojan Horse Medical ships? Loaded with Special Forces and drone launching cargo containers on board. With lurking submarines off the shores in support. Stealth bombers and fighters sweeping in from hidden bases in Maine and the far Arctic. Locals paid to support the invasion? Thick-billed murres, little auks, and Atlantic puffins wired with explosives, to all blow up in designated areas?

All foiled because the leader of the country said he did not need the ships!

Oh Yes, foiled again. 😔

I was sure I'd seen a picture of one under way with the caption "It's on the way!!!"

Whether it will be allowed to dock is another question – Greenland doesn't want it – why would they? They have 6 hospitals already, in-community healthcare, and free at point of delivery healthcare, like most (all?) European countries.

This "gesture" is maybe the dumbest one yet – unless its for the usa military personel already on Greenland in the agreed for 70+ years bases. All 130 of them.

Fun fact – the usa used to have ~10,000 on Greenland bases. The usa has run that number down themselves. Including the current guy in his first term. Even more fun fact – the existing treaty allows for a ramping up of numbers. No need to invade a friend and ally.

20th I take TMp as a whole and not just one thread. So continuing our discussion from elsewhere:

Ultramodern Warfare:

" For discussion of military events within the past 10 years, including ongoing operations."

Enlighten me as to what military event or ongoing operations, does sending a hospital ship to Greenland have?

Times up! None.

Just a thread IMHO to attempt a dump on the old Orange Guy. Not even a good one. "See he Taco'ed again!". One of his stellar posts? No. Necessary in Greenland? I doubt it. But nothing to do with ongoing operations or an ongoing war.

I at least tried to bring it to a military operation. 😇

Sophocles: "Evil appears as good in the minds of those whom god leads to destruction."

See he Taco'ed again!

That insult still makes no sense -- in fact it's counter productive! I mean, who doesn't like tacos? Just say "tacos" and I think of Taco Tuesdays at a local bar or watering hole, street tacos from a taco truck that's muy authentico – we're talking barbacoa on corn tortillas with maybe tomatillo salsa and onions and pickled radishes and jalapenos…yum!

And you have to explain the acronym to try and make sense, and still all the people who aren't die hard anti-Trumpers hear the word "Trump TACO!" and have a positive association!

Something yummy associated with the name Trump.

So silly…

I prefer the empanadas… and allow me to said that it is "autentico" not "authentico"… (smile)

Fun fact: USNS stands for United States Naval Ship, a designation for non-commissioned, U.S. Navy-owned vessels operated by the Military Sealift Command (MSC).

Current Operations (sorry for the pun) by the US Navy would be covered by the Ultramodern Warfare board on TMP.

That they are claimed as having been deployed to support an already announced upcoming military annexation is interesting – especially when they are both in dry dock.

Just for clarification when The Pentagon link says they have received no orders to deploy the ships – despite the president saying that one is on its way – should they be accused of mocking him as well? That would ultimately be Hegseth, would it not?

Well that was convoluted. There are no current "military" operations in Greenland.

BUT what's this!! 😱

"The hospital ship USNS Mercy departed Alabama Shipyard on Tuesday, transiting southbound through the Gulf of Mexico at about 10.5 knots, closing out months of drydock work while fresh questions swirl about her next assignment.

Mercy's departure from Mobile comes days after President Donald Trump posted that the United States would send a hospital ship to Greenland, declaring "it's on the way!!!" Greenland's prime minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, responded with a polite but firm rejection, noting that Greenland already provides universal public healthcare."

😱😱 I hear "Tatoo" yelling from a hill in Greenland: "De Invasion!! De Invasion!!"

But wait .. …

"The timing puts Mercy's movements under a spotlight. The 1,000-bed ship had been expected to return to the West Coast for a scheduled $90 USD million maintenance period with Vigor Industrial in Portland beginning in March. A Navy spokesperson said the Alabama yard period addressed urgent drydock repairs tied to a ballast tank failure and was separate from the upcoming regulatory docking and inspection work.

Maritime analyst Sal Mercogliano has noted the ship was slated to shift back to the West Coast to resume shipyard availability in Oregon through September 2026."

"The departure comes following yesterday's Wall Street Journal reporting that U.S. officials have not issued any orders to send a hospital ship, including USNS Mercy, to Greenland, despite President Donald Trump's social-media claim that one was "on the way.""

"Meanwhile, sister ship USNS Comfort remains at Alabama Shipyard.

For now, AIS shows Mercy making steady speed in the Gulf. Whether she continues toward her planned West Coast overhaul — or receives new orders — remains the open question."

Oh my God! 😱😱

😏

So USNS:

"USNS (United States Naval Ships) are unarmed auxiliary support vessels owned by the U.S. Navy and operated by the Military Sealift Command (MSC) with civilian crews."

"That they are claimed as having been deployed to support an already announced upcoming military annexation is interesting – especially when they are both in dry dock."

"As of February 2026, there are no U.S. forces stationed to invade Greenland. While there is an active U.S. military presence on the island, it is governed by a long-standing mutual defense treaty with Denmark and is currently focused on missile defense and Arctic training."

I do believe Davos secured most of what the Evil One wanted….. for now 😈

First Greenland, then Iceland, then Canada, then the UK and then ….. the World!!! 🤣😂😈

I really do believe you over there have much more to be concerned about on your home island, but maybe those don't show up in your preferred news services.

Enjoy, sent to me from some concerned friends in the UK. I do enjoy these.
